Hey everyone, I ordered this dress from dessilyme:
And I got this:
I knew what I was getting would not be perfect but the website clearly said “v-neck” and this is a sweetheart. I was expecting a v-neck with straps.
I feel like, I like it but it’s just not exactly what I want, yet.
I really wanted a low back, do you guys think I can get it altered to have a lower back, say down to the belt? Could I go any lower than that?
My Future Sister-In-Law is a seamstress but can’t show it to her/ask until the end of the month and I want a conclusion now!!
Thanks for all of your help! 😀

I actually think the dress is quite good! I think it needs a good steam and maybe a little nip in the hips to create a snug fit (maybe a shaper). But really, i think they did a great job!
Eta: I think having the back altered lower would be really nice, and do-able, just expect to spend some $$$ on major changes.

The dress turned out good; it needs some alterations, but I think it looks good. I think you could lower the back, I don’t know what kind of lower back you want but I bet you could easily turn it into a v-back.
Similar to this, only not as low cut.

I actually think it looks just like the dress!

I like it. The detail is very pretty.
I think you might like your dress more if you got a petticoat to give some volume to the bottom. It would look more like the picture, and give you and the dress a nice shape.

Did you try on the dress from the designer before ordering a copy? The reason I say that is because I know I brought pictures to the bridal salon and the dresses on me looked nothing like they did in the pictures.
I think with alteration it will look great. Can you send your Future Sister-In-Law a picture?

altering the lace seems really hard.
it’s a nice job but the fit on you isn’t right. it doesn’t hug your curves like the model one and doesn’t quite flare out at the bottom.
if you fix the fit I think it will make a drastic difference!

I think it’s beautiful! You’re going to have to get some alterations done (including the ribbon) and you’ll probably want a petticoat, but it really is nice!

@TheJeanses2012: Thanks, I think I’ve lost weight since I ordered and it’s a little big 🙁 I think Future Sister-In-Law will alter it for free so, we’ll see what happens.
@his chippymunk: Thank you, I want to eliminate a little back fat/I don’t like that area of my back. The v-back is a really interesting idea! Here is the original I was expecting :/

Thanks everyone for your replies. I’ll definitely bring up making it snugger to Future Sister-In-Law and finding a petticoat.
@roxy821: This dress is a little outdated, 2008, I believe and I couldn’t find it anywhere but it was the only dress I felt was “the one.”
