So I have never bought anything online before… like never!!!
So when I found a particular dress i found on Etsy one day, I knew it was the one. After a fair bit of back and forth with the etsy vendor, i established she was genuine and would be able to make what I was looking for. Yes, the dress did take some time to make as she is a one person outfit who had quite a few orders in front of mine but i can honestly say it was worth the wait. She does not cut corners and the work she has sent through to me so far has been excellent.
After initially making contact with her in january of this year, she said she could start my dress by november. By november 26th, it was in the mail! Also, she allowed me to pay my dress off before it was due to start production as I could not afford a lump sum payment due to our tight household budget. When i had a few weeks that I couldnt make a payment, I let her know and she was more than understanding.
The details of the dress are incredible, and she has painstakingly hand beaded all of the lace details on the dress herself! When ever i requested a modification or change she would always come back with one or two options for me to choose from. She also has a bit of a ‘sixth sense’ in knowing exactly what you want. (this was particularly true when she created my juliet cap veil). All of her dresses are custom made and she goes out of her way to individualise them just for you. If you have something you want made i mind.. send her a few ideas and she will come up with something for you.
I have to admit, i was initally really questioning myself about my decision to make such a big purchace from a person i have never met before, but I can guarentee you it has been worth it. She has kept me in the loop every step of the way, including a little mishap, that she didnt really need to tell me about (which was promtly resolved) but she did any way and i really appreciated her honesty. Ladies, if you want to keep your money in the states and support a person who lives in a tiny little town, I reccomend you get in contact with her. Her etsy store name is ‘Design by Lannette’.
So here are some pics of my etsy journey 🙂
these are the initial designs that I fell in love with (mainly the back) however due to my bustiness, i was worried the cowl neck would be too much… so an alternative neckline idea was found…
I also said i had reservations about the flowers, and she asked if i would like the lace beaded or have some rhinestones added instead… I said yes, so she sent through an example of what the beading would look like
I really liked the detail, and while we were ‘talking’ I aksed her if she had any expericne in making julet cap veils as I wanted to have one to compliment the dress. she said she hadnt but asked for some details i what i would like and she would make one for me as she has always wanted to make one… this is what she came up with from my ideas.. couldnt be happier!!
As she was working on the beading of the lace, Lannette asked if I liked pearls (i love them) so she added them to the details of my dress. Now i am not the skinniest person, but i am confident I will rock this dress when it comes. I am also planning to lose a bit more wieght before the big day. Lannette has assured me that alterations to take it in will not be difficult. I believe her on this. Any way, here is my dress!! Cant wait till it gets here!!
I requested a slightly deeper v neck than the sketch and i am very happy. also she couldnt stuff the dress form enough in the bust for photos so thas why tne neckline looks a little loose
The back of the dresss. Which I am totally and utterly in love with.
details on closer inspection… so much work has gone into this.. all done by hand!
and finally, she created a coat hanger to hang the dress and veil on for the big day when it arrives.
