Yes! It’s a lab grown emerald πŸ™‚  Green is my favourite colour and it’s important to us as a couple – its the colour of the dress I wore on our first date, it’s the colour I will be wearing as my wedding dress and Fiance always says when I wear green I look like I can take on the world πŸ™‚

I think its designed to face ‘upwards’ to other people but I’m going to have it facing me – an ongoing reminder I can take on the world πŸ™‚

Yes, I love that its a little unique – but still in the realms of classic.  The best compliment I’ve had today is ‘it is so you, its a bit modern, a bit classic, a bit unique, a bit quirky, but not madly any of them, its well balanced in its many faces, just like you’

I’m loving that it looks like a crown from the side πŸ™‚

Love this! The wait must be killing you! We are currently building my ring and we are already getting antsy. Yay, please post pics when it comes in!

Eeeee!  It is so perfect.  The emerald colour, the stone sizes and ratio, the bezel, the band weight, the moissy sparkle.

sorry if the images are large I resized them twice!

kayteebee :  I don’t think I’ve ever experienced ring envy as much as I have just now looking at your GORGEOUS ring. And this is coming from someone who never really cared much for a solitaire without a pave shank and never really cared for round cuts…. and never really cared to have anything other than white gold… But I would die and go to heaven if my SO proposed to me with your ring. It is absolutely beautiful, down to every single last little detail!!!!! I can’t stop staring and I almost want to call up my jeweller who is currently handmaking my ring (to look nothing like this) and get her to change the design completely lol!

kayteebee :  Wow thanks so much that is such a compliment with all the glorious rings on the bee!!  Sorry for thread jacking.  I’ve had such a wonderful day – the jeweller was lovely and I just love how it sparkles.  Fiance is happy that I am happy, he says its pretty but I know he’s just mostly relieved he didn’t have to pick it himself and that its all worked out OK (and fits! I had a major panic last week it wasn’t going to fit).  The jeweller gave me her original design drawings too and took some lovely progress pics and I can’t wait to get them all printed and framed (and display them at the wedding).  I’m hoping to ask her to make the wedding ring too – although I think enough jewellery buying for a little while!

lqnxo :  The wait is horrible but the price to pay for a custom ring I guess! Whats the estimated waiting time?  From payment I waited just under 5 weeks for mine to be ready and although it was stressful, it was worth every second πŸ™‚

kayteebee :  SO and I probably wouldn’t be getting engaged in the near future if it weren’t for moissanite lol he always dreamed of getting me the most beautiful big ring and he would never be able to afford it (and I told him a million times that I didnt even need a ring) so when we discovered moissy he was like “We’re actually going to do this now!”

As for the ring design, I haven’t posted anything about it because I honestly have nothing to post. We went to the jewellers (who happen to be super long family friends) and got my finger sized and I told them I wanted a 2 ct princess cut moissy with a pave shank… and thats all we left them with. The rest has been up to my SO. Over the next little while I had been giving him pictures of details that I liked on other peoples’ rings and stuff. Basically I want a cathedral setting with a basket thats pretty to look at (like not just prongs coming straight out of the band) and I want the stones in the band to be about 2.5-3mm wide with shared prongs or u prong. And I told him I would like to have a “surprise” blue saphire that you can only see from the profile.

I have no idea how much of this information he may or may not have passed along to our jeweller but my SO knows me so well that I know I’ll love my ring when it’s done no matter what!

kayteebee :  Haha I know! my SO was like we can upgrade one day in the future to a real diamond and I was like “What? Why?!? Moissanite is prettier than diamonds!” lol I just love the rainbow sparkles they throw off all the time. I literally dream about it almost every night I’m sooooo excited! I’ll have it sometime within the next 3 months, SO said he’ll have proposed to me by January 5th haha πŸ˜€

I think that there is a very small fraction of the population that can actually afford to spend money on expensive diamonds. Most normal people either have to settle for something small or they finance a bigger one. If you’re financing it, it means you can’t really afford it. So why not get something you can afford and will love equally as much and use your hard earned money towards important things like a home or saving for kids and their futures. You know?
