I am riding the high of completing my DIY card box, so I wanted to post pics here, because no one cares like other people planning their own weddings!
Our theme is “woodsy luxury”, so outdoorsy elements with rich colors and fabrics. Pinecones have become a sort of totem of the wedding, so I wanted to incorporate them. So excited!

Those are gorgeous! Are they made with real pumpkins? I just have one question about them… How do you keep the cards from getting gunky from the moisture inside the pumpkin?

Ooo, I love it! Is it a real pumpkin? I’ve been trying to come up with something for our fall themed card box. I may have to borrow this idea if our current plan falls through.

@Loribeth: I’ve heard you can line the inside with saran wrap and the cards should be fine.

@UpstateCait: The pumpkins are too perfect, prob one of the carvable ones you can buy at micheals, but still, SUPER COOL!! I opened the thread expecting boxes with leaves stuck to them and I get an eye full of awesomeness. Great Job!

Thanks for all the wonderful responses guys!
These are craft pumpkins from Michaels (PSA – on sale this week!), so luckily, they won’t get messy.
When I was researching options though, I did hear that you could line the inside of a real pumpkin with a heavy fabric like velvet to keep it from getting gunky. My biggest concern was being able to make them this far in advance!

I love this! I am going to brainstorm on how to adapt the idea for a summer wedding. 🙂
