We’re getting married on a ship, and we’re having a lot of food, including apple cobbler and wedding cupcakes. So I didn’t want to do an edible. I also didn’t want to give something tacky or that no one would want. I know a lot of people do sparklers for sendoffs, but I don’t want to – I’m not big in being the center of attention. We’re getting married 6/30/13, so I thought people could use these on July 4th. I also ordered matchboxes embossed with “a perfect match” and our names and the date.

Very cute idea! I would attach something that says something to the effect of “To use in your personal celebration on the 4th!” or something since people may think it’s okay to light them on the boat.

Can you take sparklers on an airplane? I could be wrong, but I think you can’t take those in checked luggage or a carry on. It’s a nice idea if your guests aren’t flying to get there or get home, but if they are, you might want to re-think it.

@Nurse_Bee: That’s a fantastic idea, thanks, I’ll definitely add that.

@KatieBklyn: I only have two guests flying in, my aunt and uncle.

Agree with NurseBee. If I got those I would think we were doing a sparkler send off… but putting something on the tag indicating it’s for the 4th would be good. I know you already ordered them, but I might forego the matches… again because the two together might imply they are for use that night.

Very cute but I’d think you were doing a send off.

I think they are a little awkward to carry. If you throw them in your purse/pocket, do they get broken?
I do like the idea of matches. I’m not a smoker so when I want to light a candle, I have to search for my matchbooks, some of which are from weddings. Can be very useful!
