My Fiance is going to be working all day on Valentines Day and can’t spend the day with me. He’ll get home around 10:30pm Thursday. So we decided to celebrate it early. He’s off today so I cooked him some breakfast and spent the day together with our daughter. Look at the beautiful purple hyacinths he got me.
The red tulips are suppose to be for my mom.
I love potted plants. Is there anyone else out there who would rather receive potted plants over regular bouquets of flower?

Me! I always ask my husband to pick up a fun/unique potted plant for Valentine’s day instead of flowers. My mother tells my dad the same thing every year too. We are big plant people in our family.
Also, hyacinths are one of my mom’s favorite flowers. The smell is heavenly!!

@sruan: I totally agree with potted plants! They’ll last much longer. 🙂 Plus it’s a constant reminder that he got them for you, very sweet. Happy Valentine’s Day!

I murder plants, so nah – flowers that are gonna die anyway work for me xD

Last year my Fiance got me a beautiful potted pansy orchid. It bloomed from Februaury until June which is way better than a bouquet.

What do you get him? We just got engaged over Christmas so this is the first Valentines/presents holiday of our engagement and I want him to know how happy he is making me! (He doesn’t care, but I want to get him something anyways!!) We are both dieting until the wedding so no sweets or baking!

Yes! I always tell my husband to get me potted plants but he forgets. I really want some succulents for my office!

SO pretty! We don’t have any potted plants because I am always concerned my cat will eat them and get sick. But I would much rather have a gift that keeps on giving. I guess I could plant them outdoors 🙂

Totally agree! Potted plants keep on giving 🙂
Mine got me a jade. He also wrote a sweet note saying they are mean to bring luck, and good luck on my exams this week!

I couldn’t get SO, now fiance, to get me any flowers. Even though I love them. I like both, but I do agree, I’m perfectly fine with potted plants because I love to garden.
Maybe when we get a place, I can start making a garden and convince him this is a more practical way to get me flowers? 🙂 I’d be okay with that!

I prefer orchids in a pot because they last a really long time. I’ve had ones that were gifted to me with 3/4 of the blooms already open and the plant still lasts 2+ months before all the blooms fall off.
I’ve told Darling Husband not to give me cut flowers because they just don’t last that long and I hate having to deal with pollen, water changes and stinky dead flowers.

I ask him to get me potted plants/herbs instead of a bouquet of flowers. Sometimes he will get me both just because but I like the fact that it will last a lot longer than 5-7days.
