- Wedding: July 2010
I just got in from visiting my family and seeing my grandparents twice. She’s doing as good as she can, was fairly clear and knew who we were and we had two wonderful visits with her btw. I feel very blessed.
I also had the opportunity to say all I need to say (without her feeling like I was telling her something at a deathbed or something..was cool about it) and while I’m still very sad, and in the grieving process a bit early, it was very very good. My family is awesome.
After seeing how much heart there is between my grandparents and myself, T came up with a way to make sure they are (God willing she is still alive then) at our wedding. They will be VIRTUALLY at our wedding and he’s devised a way to have a video feed done where they will be able to watch and hear our wedding and us even hear them too! He’s gots lots of IT connections/friends and that is going to be one of his biggest projects before the wedding.
After our last visit with them, I was crying on our way back to my sis and bil’s house, he said he’d figured all this out driving down together. I was so excited after he told me this, that I literally jumped into his arms as soon as we got out of the suv.
So if she’s still living, we’ll still have our family celebration! I’m going to even have a special dinner (similar to what we’re having at both rehersal dinner and reception) delivered to them each day too!
If she can hang in there long enough, we can have them still celebrate their 71st wedding anniversary! My sis was so happy at the idea she also cried.
So the wind is back in my sails with regard to wedding planning..T is the greatest Fiance ever, and my family is so amazingly loving and supportive to us.
On our drive back to ATL tonight, we had five hours and stopped in Chattanooga for dinner (Sticky Fingers..our favorite!) and we planned much of the wedding out! We have decided on location and month (July, not August) and we’re so excited! We’re going to have a few family friends with ties there to help secure the (gasp) church and we’re going to get a string or two pulled to secure the rehersal dinner site!!!
We’re so excited now! My heart is somehow a bit lighter, although I shed lots of tears this weekend after visiting my grandma. Thank you all for your love and prayers. Thank you so much.
