Wow Fiance bought our house and put the down payment on my car a year and a half before we were even engaged.  She’s definitely over the top.  If your Fiance doesn’t reign this in now it’s only going to get worse.

Excuse me, but a betrayal of whom??? It’s only a betrayal of someone if he was obligated to spend that money on someone else (was he supposed to buy HER a car?). You’re about to be his wife, at which point that inheritance becomes your money, too.

You are about to be married, one couple. How is this him buying you a car and not “we bought a car”?

They are being overly dramatic and good for him for standing up to them.Once he inherited the money its his to do with whatever he wants. They have to realize that once you are in a serious relationship and once you get married your spouse comes first. If they wanna miss out on this happy occassion then shame on them. You and your Fiance have a right to live your lives as best you see fit.

Sounds like an overprotective and jealous mother to me! In my experience, it’s better to stay away from those…

you are getting married. he bought you a car. when you get married, your stuff becomes his stuff and his stuff becomes your stuff. therefore, he bought himself a car.

@ms. lovie bunny:  Wow… I don’t even know what to say to that one. She sounds like she’s worried about you taking over control of your Fiance or something. Like another poster said she may be jealous of your relationship with her son. I hope your shower is going alright. : (

Shaking my head. What was Fiance “supposed” to spend that money on? Buying that car makes his life a lot easier.  “She told him what he done is putting a dark cloud over what should be the happiess times of our lives.”

This woman’s an absolute nut case. I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with this.
