Alright, so I started making a list of songs for our wedding and put down the song for the BM/GM to walk and for me to walk as the same song because I didn’t want to cut it short and there isn’t much of a walk. He likes the song and even suggested it for that but wanted to know what you guys think. Is it a good song for me to walk to? He also wanted to know what you thought of our first dance song. He knows I’m always talking to people on here and told me to write this post so this is really from my Fiance. lol
I really like the first one, but it’s a little folky for my taste.
Don’t really care for the second one at all. Have you listened to the original version, the Lionel Richie and Diana Ross version? I like that one much more.
I don’t like to rain on people’s parades usually but since you did ask for opinions, I will respectfully offer mine. I have to agree with @tksjewelry. The Ross-Richie version of Endless Love is one of my favorite songs of all time. Mariah Carey and Luther Vandross did a passing version as well. Aside from my intense dislike for Gokey, objectively, I think he’s butchering the song.
I absolutely love the first one; I’ve always found an acoustic guitar more inviting and romantic than a full orchestra suite for a brides walk. Never been much of a fan for Canon in D either 😛 But I love this song, because it has the subtly and beauty that I feel a brides walk needs
The second song is very classic rnb/cafe/jazz even I would say. I have to admit I dont like the vocals as much as the first song, but it does seem like something you can dance too (its a faster paced than the first). I think they are good choices, but I do prefer the vocal stylings a bit more of the first one. I think I just love acoustic and the sound it has 🙂
Edit: I mean, I think Im a bit biased here (Im all about the folksy, acoustic music, I chose the version of The Sundays Wild Horses for my ideal walk song :P) so that says alot
So really I think maybe the second song (I listened to it again) might be reassessed; I just really dont like the vocal stylings, and I think there are more soulful rnb/easy listening songs that capture the romance a bit better than this one.
The first song is nice. I wouldn’t choose a song with words, but I know a lot of brides do..I guess I am just old fashioned because I chose Canon in D..haha! It’s a very pretty song though..beautiful!
As for the second song, I listened to both versions and prefer the original. However, if you prefer this version – go for it! Our first dance song was Etta James- At Last, however we used Beyonce’s version because we found it to be a bit more modern.
We both like Gokey and were wanting him to win American Idol. That is the only version of the song he likes so if it’s not that version he won’t let us use the song. lol.
Thanks for the oppinions so far. I’ll let him know what was said up to this point. I’m hoping to hear more still though so there are more peoples thoughts to go on.
I love the first song! I almost used it a couple months ago but decided to go with something else!
Also, I don’t really care for the second one personally AND I really liked him on AI. It just sounds…off? Also it is pretty long so that is another thing to consider.
LOVE the first song, going on my wedding list as a possibility for the reception. Or maybe I can get my wedding singer to sing it at the service.
As for the second, while I definitely prefer the original, Gokey’s version isn’t horrible. He sounds rough, but maybe that’s his style and makes you like him? I’d say if you like it, go for it.
