It’s really about whether he would be disappointed. Does he even know what a groom’s cake is? Have his close friends/family members made a big deal out of them? If so, I would do something. If not, don’t sweat it. My Fiance is a “yankee,” he doesn’t need a grooms cake. He doesn’t even know what one is.

I have never seen a groom’s cake in real life, and hadn’t heard of them before the bee. I think people will be ok with just one cake.

I’ve never been to a wedding that actually had a groom’s cake so I say you don’t need it…

I would say you don’t need a groom’s cake. Could you do the cheese “cake” with your platter? That would be cute! I’m thinking of doing that. 🙂

Like other PP’s, I’ve never been to a wedding with a groom’s cake. You definitely don’t need one, no one’s going to miss it, esp. your fiance, if he really doesn’t like cake.

The only wedding I’ve been to that had a “grooms cake” had a stack of glazed Krispy Kreme doughnuts (which were actually better than the cake). I don’t think the grooms cake would be missed if you want to opt out of one, but hid he doesn’t like cake you could use it as a chance to get him a cake he would like. This could be some small cheese cakes, doughnuts, cheese, etc., it’s all up to what he wants (because that’s the point of a grooms cake).

@vanessa7:  I love cheese, and I love cake, so I saw that and knew I wanted it! 🙂

I think I may get lucky too, my Fiance definitely wants a traditional cake, but I don’t think he knows enough about weddings to know that he gets a groom’s cake (although that boy is a Southerner through and through) so he’ll probably have not a clue when that gets glazed over. Innocent

I had never seen or heard of a Groom’s cake until I joined the Bee.

Does he hate all cake? We will end up with an ice cream cake if our venue doesn’t include cake with the food (many here do).

@vanessa7:  Nerp.. lol. They don’t do bridal portraits or boudoir photos either, from what I can tell. I asked one girl here in NYC, who I was working on a bridal marketing project with, whether we shouldn’t market to brides who are doing boudoir shoots, and she looked at me like I grew another head and quipped “brides around here don’t have time for things like that, it’s really not common.” Umm excuse mee lol!
