- Wedding: May 2010
I went to pickup my dress today. But let’s start from the beginning. Things have been SUPER stressful at work trying to get loads of work done before I go. Basically everything I would have done for the 3 weeks I am taking off. Then when I leave I have to wrap up wedding stuff calling vendors etc. And tomorrow my Future Mother-In-Law and Future Father-In-Law fly in to stay and help for our wedding which is in 10 days. I am definitely not asking for sympathy because I know all of you bees are in the same boat! Needless to say I have been feeling the stress. So today I headed out of work, I had to take a cab to the dress shop to meet with the owner at 1. I was a little upset about having to take a cab there then home then back to work but that’s all the time I could spare away from work AND the shop closes at 5. I rush to get there and when I do the shop owner isn’t there. Her assistent says maybe a half hour or so until she arrives. A half hour???? Seriously? I still have to run home and then back to work. At this point I can feel my face start to get hot. She says I can’t have the dress until the owner gets back. Then she says maybe I can just come back at the end of the day. This means another cab ride etc. Not an option. Then the assistent tries to tell me I still owe for the second half of my dress, which I already paid. At this point I fell tears starting to well up. Already on a tight budget this was pushing me over the edge. Still no sign of the shop owner. I tell the lady I need to leave and call my fiance crying. Of course he wants to call the shop owner and give her a piece of his mind making me cry. I try to tell him I am overeacting and it is fine. But come on I called to confirm this morning and the owner leaves for vacation tomorrow for 2 weeks! The owner finally arrives 45 minutes late and I can hardly muster up any sort of politeness. Now tear have turned to anger as I am late for work, in an office full of men that just don’t understand. I keep rushing her along to get her to get my dress and get it ready because it is in the back somewhere. I flippently tell the lady see? I don’t owe for the dress. Then the shop owner asks for a positive review on YELP. I look at her with raised eye brows and a “not a good time to ask” look. Then she starts sayng oh so sorry, I hope this wasn’t a big deal but you are only in the city right?!?!? Ummm not the point! Basically then I tell her YES but I have waited 45 minutes and now I have to run around and stay late at work because you couldn’t be on time. Hmmmmm Tears and hostility, ingredients for a crazy bride.
