So this Saturday I had my first visit to DB. I believe I’m scarred for life. I showed up to my appointment on time, and it took them 20 minutes to find a consultant to see me. Then when I finally got a consultant she asked my bra size for the purpose of providing me with a bustier to wear while trying on dresses. I told her 38G but anything between 38-40 that’s higher than a D cup will do the job for that visit. She brings me a 50Dirty Delete bra that is of course falling off me, so I have to wait for her to bring the right size. She then reviews my list they already had of 20 dresses that I liked. She leaves and then comes back and tells me that they only have 1 dress from my list in my size (street size 16 in dresses but 18W-20 in DB wedding dresses). This already puts me in a bad mood. She then disappears again to help another client and leaves me to try on dresses with my mother, sisters, and best friend for over an hour. They end up going out on the floor and finding me dresses to try on because she would not go out to find me anything. It’s like because I’m a plus size female, she didn’t think I deserved to even wear a wedding dress. I tried on a few, found 2 that looked pretty good on me but I wasn’t sold, and I already had a negative vibe about the appointment. Eventually I ended up crying in the dressing room and decided to leave without a dress. I’m honestly considering just going to the courthouse now and not even having a wedding. I feel so discouraged…

@HUstrawberry: This is horrible, I am sorry this happened to you. I went to some horrible appointments as well but I eventually got my dress from a small shop where they treated me wonderfully. You will find your perfect dress and marry you perfect man and the rest wont matter!

I’m so sorry you had a bad experience. 🙁 If it makes you feel better, David’s Bridal consistantly gets poor reviews online, so don’t let yourself think it has anything to do with your size as I can guarantee you it doesn’t. I was on a pretty tight budget when I was looking for my dress and I’m not a small girl either, so what I ended up doing was making appointments with some higher quality bridal salons so that I could try on dresses and get an idea what styles I liked, what looked good on me, what I should avoid, etc. Once I had a better idea what I was looking for in a dress, I went back to David’s Bridal and told the sale’s people that I didn’t want any help and that I would look around the store on my own. They were fine with that. I did bring my mom and my sister with me though so they could help me in and out of dresses. I ended up finding a dress I liked with no help from a sale’s person, bought it and went home fairly quickly. No hassle 🙂 Consider giving something like that a try. Don’t give up hope because of one bad experience, you’re bound to have more positive experiences at other stores.

I’m so sorry you were treated so badly!!!!
Forget about them…don’t let them get to you!!
If going to shops to try on dresses get discouraging… perhaps you can try ordering it online? Not the very cheap dress shops..but somewhere more trustable like dressilyme or jasmine’s bridal? They custom make to your measurements, so there won’t be worries of not fitting.
It is YOUR wedding, your day! No matter what you WILL be the most beautiful person at your wedding! Your Fiance obivously thinks you’re amazing~ heck, he’s marrying you! So forget about what everyone else thinks…it don’t matter!
You find the dress of your dreams and have the wedding of your dreams!

Aww! I’m sorry you had a bad time! I went to one David’s Bridal in Atlanta and the people there were rude and it was packed. I went to the one in two smaller towns and the people were really nice and treated me and everyone with me really well. I dunno if that was a factor for you. I hope you find your perfect dress!
