I had so much fun doing it. Never knew it was in me to do much better than i thought. I’m thinking about DIY-ing my nails for our wedding now. Anyone DIY their nails for their wedding? (Photos would be much appreciated)
P.S. I used Essie “Blanc” for the white polish, Sally Hansen Salon Manicure “Shall We Dance?” for the natural, transparent-like pink of the nail. Lastly, I used Sally Hansen Salon Manicure top coat.
How did I do??? I normally don’t wear nail polish because I’m a fine artist and my hands are always in need of a good scrub, haha…either that or I’m just a germ freak.

They look amazing! How on earth did you get the white lines to be straight! That’s my biggest mistake when I try to do my own nails

Wow that looks great! You must have steady hands. I’ll be doing my own nails, but just a solid color so it’s not impressive lol

Thanks so much 🙂 I used the Etsy white nail polish and it has a pretty tiny brush, so I swept it slowly across the white tips sideways to the point where the brush was touching my skin (had to clean up a lot afterwards, lol).
Thank you! 🙂 Haha, it probably comes from painting so much. See, I’m not good at solid colors. I always mess it up because it doesn’t end up looking smooth and shiny. It’s very weird.

Wow, you are SO much better at it than I am. I accepted defeat years ago… I will NEVER be able to nicely paint my own French manicure.
I sincerely envy your skill!!

Looks good. Are the lines on the other hand as crisp? Mine wouldn’t be lol

I started doing my own when I was a teenager and didn’t have time or money for manicures. My first few weren’t great, but Sally Hanson sold little tapes that helped with the lines back then. I only started going to a salon again a year ago, for shellac manicures.
Good for you for learning to do their own.

Thanks, Bees!!! 🙂
My right hand turned out a lot better than I thought. I dipped a very thin and flat makeup brush in nailpolish remover after I painted the tips first to make them straight by gliding over unruly lines (didn’t need to do that to my left since I’m right-handed and a bit more steady that way).

I just wanted to add that your nails look wonderful and I am amazed you got such nice lines without tape. I use masking tape. Much cheaper then the specific tape the drug store sell and works really well. I do my toes too because I can’t afford mani and pedi’s most of the time (I’m a student).

That is a pretty darn fine job!

You did an excellent job!
I’ve done my own french manicure since I was a pre-teen (or I guess “American manicure” because I like to use a neutral base color instead of pink). I might do my own nails for the wedding, although I may go to a salon just to get shellac because it’s so durable.
