Hello fellow bee’s! I’ve been drooling over dresses since I got engaged in April but I had yet to try any on. Well, today I decided to rectify that, and I gotta say, it was a lot more nerve wracking than I had thought it’d be!
Normally I’m pretty chill and composed but the moment I entered, I was sooooooo nervous and it was crazy crowded and I didn’t really know what to do. My dear friend S who accompanied me was calming me down and dragging me around to look at dresses, but suddenly all the dresses I had in mind all flew out of my head and I was lost in a haze of shock at all the dresses (and their prices too!).
A store lady came to my rescue and asked me what I was looking for… once again i found myself tongue tied and she said well lets just grab some random styles and shapes to see what you like and we’ll go from there.
It was a crazy hot day today and I had been out side all morning at farmers markets, so i was hot and tired and sporting the beginning’s of a sun burn. I didn’t know trying on dresses was so hard! After only 5 dresses, I called it a day because I was afraid I might get heat stroke! None of the dresses were “The One” and I’m kicking myself for forgetting to ask for a few of my fav’s that I’ve been drooling over. (Decadence, Isadora Ann, Sabelle) But it was a good learning experience, and the next time I go, I think I’ll make an appt, go in the morning, and have a list of the dresses I want to try on.
ANY WHO, want to see the dresses I tried on? Can you believe that I didn’t keep track of what they were called? LOL! If any of you know, please lemme know. Also, all pics are my cell and the quality is subpar)
This was the first one I tried on and I loved the color, (champange i think) although Fiance would hate it. he feels very strongly about white-ish only. I loved it from the skirt down but I didn’t like the bodice at all.
Here’s the second dress and I didn’t think I’d like it at all. I don’t like dropped waist’s or the overlapping skirt thing, but as soon as I saw myself, i thought, hey, i look pretty good! I still think I’d want to lose just a bit more weight before going for a more detailed and fitted dress like this. Can you see how red my face is? I’m getting so over heated by this point.
Ok, dress number three is one of my faves because it’s got the princess factor, the flowers and the poof! But man oh man was it ever heavy! It’s also 6 sizes too small so my boobs are about to pop! I think this one was too white tho, i’d want it in ivory.
The next dress I’ve ruled out right away because I don’t want pure satin, but the lady brought it over, and I thought hey, what the hell, you never know! I felt very pretty in it, but i just don’t feel it’s a good afternoon garden wedding dress. It seems to me, more of a evening classy candlelit ceremony dress.
Ok, last dress! I realized the lady hadn’t grabbed me any lace dresses, and I have definitely been feeling lace! I felt great in it, but looking back at the picture now, i don’t really like it. Once again that could be becasue it was really small, and didn’t fit well in the bust. I’m not sure the skirt is poofy enough for me! And I wasn’t feeling the floppy flowers on the sash. But I loveeee the lave overlay. Take this lace, and add it on the previous satin one? Now we’re talking!
So that’s my first dress experience. I wanted to try on more but I was so hot and tired after only 5! I felt pretty pathetic to bail so soon but I still have oodles of time so I’m not stressing about it yet. And now I know what to expect and what to prepare next time I go!
Were any of you bee’s as nervous as me?! Also, which dress do you think looks best? (Just curious!)
