So like many other ladies on here (and all over the world wide web) I fell and fell hard when I saw my first pair of strassed shoes.
But considering that original strassed Christian Louboutin’s cost well over $3000 I was more than a little motivated to make my own pair.
I had an old pair of cute heels that needed a new lease on life so they became my “canvas” so to speak…
I used Swarovski flat back crystals (the non-hot fix) in Black Diamond, and I bought SS12 – 1440, SS14 – 1440 & SS16 – 1440 on eBay for about $160.00AUD. (I have since discovered that Dreamtime Creations have even better prices than eBay).
I set myself up in front of the TV and got to gluing!!!
I didn’t take any photos of how the shoes progressed and I have no idea how many hours they took. All I can say is that they felt like they took aaaaaaaages!
I decided not to cover the inside quarter of each shoe (this will make sense when you see the photos) as I liked the look of the half crystal / half natural under the bow on the heels.
Plus this way when I wear them and I knock my heels together I won’t damage or knock off any crystals! ; )
Without further adieu, these are my shoes:
I know everyone says this – But these are so much more sparkly in real life!!! Photos just never do these types of shoes justice!
As you can see, I still have to touch up the actual heels (a coat of metallic nail polish should do the trick).
I love, love, love my shoes and have already started on my second pair. Revamping a pair of low heeled blue, to be completely covered in blue crystals.
And I don’t think I’ll be able to stop with them! I’m thinking I’ll do crystal encrusted shoes for all four of my Bridesmaids.
No wonder my family thinks I’m crazy… ; )
