ugh that stinks!! I really wanted to see the pictures! Could you maybe post them somewhere in your bio? Or create a shutterfly page of them and link it in your profile? I was really curious to see more!

hmmm… I guess I didn’t feel you were promoting yourself. I enjoyed seeing your pictures very much so! As a fellow aspiring photographer I find it very interesting to hear and see what you though and I think it is good for brides to hear what it is like from a “vendors” point of view.

Sorry Gocubbies!  We used to be a bit lenient with our rules, and vendors abused them over and over.  So now we have to be more strict!

And yah, you posted in your capacity as a vendor and also watermarked your photos.  That’s a clear case where in either situation, we would delete the thread… sorry!

We don’t really have a good way for members-turned-vendors to post about their businesses!  Maybe someday we’ll have a separate set of boards for vendors?  Feel free to post an idea about it here!

HI GoCubbies – Sorry to hear that.  I didn’t feel that you were self-promoting, but I can understand with the watermarking.  I do, however, think you’re in the best place to get true feedback since you’re wanting to please we brides and brides to bee!  Good Luck!

I don’t understand how people are allowed to post with usernames that are the names of their business.  How is that not self promoting?

Glad to hear the wedding went well and that you probably got a lot of use out of the lens and flashes u rented!

@USER876: We allow vendors to participate on our boards! πŸ™‚  That way, people can benefit from their wisdom.

We just ask that vendors not promote their own businesses.  More on our policy here:

I don’t know, how is it not promoting one’s business and free advertising with their business name (easily googled and website found) and location on top of every post?

The OP isn’t even a vendor and doesn’t even have a business.  She shot one wedding for a friend and wanted to share the experience.  I think it’s worth it for people here to see the results a potential new photographer can create having limiting wedding experience (aka craigslist photographers just starting out).  If you read the background, the OP totally winged it with the wedding, buying last minute equipment, with little time to learn and test it.

As for the people with usernames XYZphotography….wisdom?  I know there are some pro’s on here, but anyone can call themselve XYZphotography.  In fact I know at least one person on here with a website and all that never even booked one paid gig.  I don’t know, maybe not the best person to obtain professional wisdom from.

@USER876: Actually if you check out the OP’s post she put in the Classifieds she does have a business…

@Lillindy:  I just saw that, from the OP it didn’t lead one to believe that was the case.  I guess you never know who the person really is!  She might as well change her userame to rleighphotography since everyone else does it and it’s tolorated.
