I am just so devastated right now it’s not even funny. My florist just blindsided me telling me that I need a backup for my bouquet. I’ve been in love with this bouquet since FOREVER. It’s the only thing in my floral budget that I want. I don’t care about centerpieces or altar arrangements or bm bouquets. As long as I have my peonies, I’m happy. And so was she. She ‘thought’ she could get them as late as the 3rd of July, but just in case, I need to have a backup. I don’t even know where to start. I loved the bouquet I was going to get so much. I can’t attach it. Can you ladies please help me with some other inspirations that can ameliorate this disappointment? I feel so down right now 🙁 Here’s an example of what my bouquet could have looked like.

oooh, you know I love peonies, but they are dead by July around here. I meeting with a florist on Tuesday about my peony idea and I ordered a trial real touch peony from flowerdepotstore.com that should be here Monday. I’ll keep you posted.
but your only route is to call every florist possible or order wholesale from like fiftyflowers, BUT the price of peonies jumps up in the middle of June.

OK, this might not woo you, but what about a WHACK load of carnations? Seriously, they look AMAZING. Do they not look a little like your beloved Peonies?
If thats just not going to work for you perhaps hydrangeas might give you the same feel and they have presteige.

Oh boo…. peonies die in July? There goes my bouquet as well! Please give us some advice 🙂

Don’t fret! Ask your florist if she can get David Austin Roses….they have a very long blooming season and look much like peonies. Some bouquets I have seen with these flowers are even prettier than peonies. Here are a few exampls..
This one is gorgeous!!

Don’t get too bummed out…things may work out for you! I was a July 3rd bride in St. Louis and had several peonies in my bouquet!! You could be in luck and if it doesn’t work out, go with the David Austin or Cabbage roses…they’re gorgeous too!!!!!!!!!

Is it mostly the colour or the fullness of the peonies that you love?
I’m surprised your florist didn’t have any secondary suggestions/didn’t say anything before since ponies are usually an april-june bloom :/
are there any other flowers you like for other occassions?

Wish I could help, but I know nothing about flowers. Maybe you could get them off the Internet?
OT, but does ANYONE know what dress that is? IT’S GORGEOUS!

@Miss Tattoo: Yeah, keep me updated. I want to know how they look. I have been in love with these bouquets for like forever and to think that I might not have them is a bit… okay, a lot disappointing 🙁
@missmouse29: Yeah well, she did send me some links but in as much as I don’t know a lot about flowers, I know a lot about what I don’t like and I didn’t like some of the roses and callas she sent me. Yeah, it was rough.
Thanks you ladies for all the help. I shall go and look into the garden roses and cabbage roses etc. Hmmm.., would they be cheaper???

As fellow bees, M.Ruder and runnerbeez, have suggested cabbage/David Austin/garden roses are an excellent option. I had a peony bouquet and I have to tell you that it was SO top heavy! Then my best friend got married in October and we used garden roses for some of her bouquets. I swear, the garden roses opened beautifully and were very similar to the peony expect they were lighter!
Other options would be (although I am not sure about seasonality as some florist can import flowers from South America):

@HapaBride: Thanks. I love these.

I agrew–david austin roses. She’s right to make you have a backup because peonies often are gone by June, but I was married in mid-July in New York last year, and they got me peonies. I doubt they can guarantee them for you, but there is a big chance you can have them.
