So I have forfeited all choices in flower girl fashion over to my 9 year old niece and goddaughter whom I love dearly. God help us all when she gets married because she is very much a fashionista and is one day going to make the cutest bridezilla!
1. She has declared that she will carry a basket with flower petals not actual flower.
2. She will wear her hair up and curly with a tiny tiara.
3. And she wants to wear purple.
We had to have a lengthy discussion where I explained to her that my wedding colors were cobalt and yellow and that purple would just not work.
My question is…. can a flower girl wear a cobalt blue dress (our compromise) and still be considered a flower girl?
This is the dress she would be wearing (a smaller version of the bridesmaids):

I dont see why not!
Im a firm beliver in doing what you want in your wedding and not what your “supposed to do”!
EDIT- She sounds super cute BTW!

Ah, these junior fashionistas! They will be the death of us. 🙂
I think the cobalt dress will be fine. Cute little girls can get away with anything.

I think it’s adorable to have the flowergirl in a miniature version of the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses!

The flower girl can wear whatever you / she wants! Ours wore a champagne dress that matched the Bridesmaid or Best Man perfectly only in a little girl way.

That is too funny! I say let her wear what she wants!

I feel your pain!
My Flower Girl is pretty laid back, but her older sister is a diva! Fortunately, we found a sales rack of first communion dresses that were clearanced out and let her have fun there. It doesn’t match, but she’s not part of the wedding party so it doesn’t matter.
The dress would be lovely!
I actually would have preferred to have my Flower Girl in the wedding colors, but I got her a dress that almost perfectly matches the fabric in mine for $25! I had wanted to be the only one in white, but I don’t think anyone’s going to confuse her for the bride (plus I never would have found another dress for that price!).

Why not? I think it will be adorable! My flowergirl (my cousin who will be 5) is going to wear a purple or pink dress so I can’t see why blue would be a problem 🙂

Oh my gosh, she is adorable. I really loved this part of planning with her. She is so concerned about matching and fabrics, I am thinking I should have made her my wedding planner.
Now, on to the shoes………

But of course she can! Our daughter is going to be our Flower Girl and I’m not certain I want her in white anyway. It’s your wedding, go for it! By The Way, your Flower Girl sounds adorable!

I totally feel you – my flower girl (niece) said she wanted to wear a veil with her dress. My sister had a fun time explaining that she can wear a veil when SHE gets married in 20 years….
It’s fine if she doesn’t match – flower girls are sort of their own thing. Everyone will think she’s adorable no matter what.

Absolutely! I thought most flower girls wore wedding colors. (We didn’t have a flower girl.)
