I have a business related friend that asked me to plan her wedding for her. She is actually our photographer and I have been designing cakes for all her family events for the past two years. In other words, quite a bit of money has been exchanged between the two of us and we have never had an ill word. We actually have a new business venture together as well. We are business-associated but we hit it off and I consider her a friend. She loved our wedding, is throwing something similiar and I LOVED planning our wedding because I am obviously sick and twisted and need professional help.
Anywhoo… I immediately said yes and created a list of duties. But how much should I charge? My involvement would be pretty hands on, she wants my input in almost everything. I don’t have my degree or license in event planning, but I have a lot of experience and friends in the wedding industry locally. Due to me being a cake designer, and having done at least 20 weddings in the past year., I know a lot of vendors, venues, etc.
I am not exactly looking to make a profit, as I actually enjoy event planning and she is a good friend. This is a good way to get my feet wet and decide to go back to school or not. Her event is not until Sept/Oct 2012 so I will be planning for a little shy of a year.
Thoughts, advice, concern over the fact that I am clinically insane?
