Just looking for words of wisdom bees on how to handle this situation ….
I have a dear friend who I love love love. She is wonderful … except… she copies me ALL the time! It started with constantly asking where I got my clothes from (then next time we caught up she would be wearing it), then my hair colour (she swapped hair dressers to go to mine and has the EXACT shade of my hair).. I can live with this…
But when I got engaged a few months ago, she loved my e-ring. All good. When I caught up with her a couple of weeks ago I asked her where her ring is (not on her hand). She tells me she is getting it remodelled. Ok, cool. I saw her yesterday and the ring she has IS MY EXACT DESIGN. Same jeweller, same exact ring , same size, same wedding band…… EVERYTHING….
How do I handle this? Or do I not handle this? Do I just take it as flattery or should I say something??
Thanks for the input bees

You could try saying something along these lines: “She’s so pathetic. Let me tell you something about Janis Ian. We were best friends in middle school. I know, right? It’s so embarrassing. I don’t even… Whatever. So then in eighth grade, I started going out with my first boyfriend Kyle who was totally gorgeous but then he moved to Indiana, and Janis was like, weirdly jealous of him. Like, if I would blow her off to hang out with Kyle, she’d be like, “Why didn’t you call me back?” And I’d be like, “Why are you so obsessed with me?” “

That is pretty weird. It doesn’t sound sinister though, maybe your friend just lacks confidence in her style and looks up to you. If it bothers you I would have a chat with her, because she might not understand that you don’t like it.

Ugh, had the same situation happen to me. It was getting out of hand. She started dressing like me, dying her hair, buying the same stuff as me, liking the same styles of things as me, then she started wanting to copy my furniture…. It was crazy.
Anyway, long story short, we aren’t friends anymore lol. But this was due to other reasons, like, her being super immature and acting like a 14 year old when she is 24.

I would honestly be really uncomfortable with someone dying their hair my particular shade, and wearing the same clothes as me. I mean, there’s flattery, then there’s a little too creepy for me. Sorry bee, no advice, just.. Good luck.

I wouldn’t care…She is copying you, not trying to one up you…you should be flattered!
