Holy mother. That thing is huge but also beautiful. I agree with the poster who said she’d feel paranoid about wearing that on a daily basis. I feel like that would make you a high probability target! I guess it’s all relative… he did get $700,000 after all, so even the $200,000 ring leaves them with quite a bit left over.

Whoa! Hopefully he was doing really well before the inheritance; I’d kill my husband if he blew that much money on a piece of jewelry! 😉

Gosh, I’d be afraid to wear it for fear of losing it or getting mugged…

It is a fairly good way to invest money from both an emotional and economic stand point…what a lucky lady! Hope it is insured and the marriage is as wonderful as the ring!

I would have prefered an engagement house to an engagement ring…

Wow, with $700K, I’d buy a house in Florida, a boat, and invest the rest! And a few grand on the ring, yes; but I think I’d shoot fiance if he spent $200K on a ring!

Wow, I would have much rather had a house for that amount of money

@abbyful:shooting him would not be a good idea before marriage – she would need to lock in the inheritance first…
End of awful sarcasm!

I think he meant well, but that’s not a smart way to spend his money. I’d be concerned about marrying someone who made a financial decision like this.

As for the investment. Diamonds are not a good investment at all.  They have a low resale value. And she’d have to want to sell it in the first place.

@egb:

I was going to say the exact thing, however not sure of others sense of humor but I agree. Here in California the deal is not sealed until the couple is married , infidelity, or the other partner breaks the relationship.

eGB its wonderful to know that there are others like me out there

@beatriz:Good to know at least one person reads my comments the way they’re intended..! I know I have to be careful, but sometimes it’s too hard, and I AM joking..
