@blushblossom91:  I’m betting that when your SO proposes that will become your dream proposal whether it takes place in Disney or not.

I definitely understand how you feel though.  I suspect that my SO is going to propose this coming weekend (EEK!) after taking me out to a nice dinner for my birthday.  Two years ago on my birthday he told me he loved me for the first time on this quiet little beach overlooking our city skyline after taking me out to a really nice dinner.  Well, he suggested going there for my birthday again and my suspicions were raised.  This was my dream proposal.  I had never said a word to him or anyone that this is how I wanted it to happen.

About two and half weeks ago one of his buddy’s girlfriends was celebrating her birthday.  It turns out the friend took her out to a nice dinner for her birthday and then took a walk on the beach where he proposed.  It just felt so similar(different restaurant and different beach though) to what I had been hoping for and thought my SO might be planning.  All I could think about was whether my SO would still do it.  I just kept thinking that it was so close to my birthday and the plans were so similar that he might feel that he needed to do something different now.  Happy for the couple but bummed that my dreams might have just been crushed.  Of course I couldn’t say anything to my SO.  I’m not supposed to know or suspect anything.  Well, I’m happy to say that since then I have only gotten more hints and signs that it may still be happening!

So you never know, maybe your SO will still surprise you with your dream proposal!  And if not, I’m sure however he does it will be wonderful because you will be engaged to the man you love!

Well, it’s ok because you can get engaged in front of Belle’s castle or at Be Our Guest restaurant! Since they are both new you probably didn’t think of them as options.  We just happened to be there for opening night and scored reservations – either locations would be perfect!! Be happy for your friend, your engagement will be wonderful and perfect and so you no matter where it is! Best wishes!

I think you may need to stop mentally planning a proposal, even if its something you’be thought of previously. I get your Disney love, I’m there too, but your SO may not share that passion and he may not feel that’s the place he wants to propose. He may have something else in mind and while he knows your preferences, his are important as well.

I get being disappointed when a friend gets that proposal. This is very similar to a situation in college, and Darling Husband ended up explaining that the Disney proposal wasn’t him and it wasn’t us, that was me. It hurt and I was disappointed, but ultimately I think he was right.

@blushblossom91:  Is it possible that your friend heard you talking about the idea, and suggested it to her SO?

It will be ok–you’ll have your ‘magical’ moment!! ๐Ÿ™‚

@blushblossom91:  Girl, I feel your pain! SO and I met when we both were chaperoning a 7 day canoe trip on the Rio Grande. The sparks were flying the moment we met, and we were inseperable on that trip. After being on the river for 7 days together, we pretty much began dating. We always talk about how special that trip is to us because it was where we met and fell in love….in fact, it is a trip that we now take at least once a year with friends…and, i always imagined that it would be where he would propose to me, since it is such a special place to us.

My SO and I have been dating for 6 years. His brother began dating this girl 3 years ago. The past two trips, she came along too…..you can see where this is going…. Last february, while we were on the river with them and a couple of other friends, he proposed to her. I was heartbroken. I couldn’t believe it. She got my dream proposal. We were out in the middle of nowhere, so I couldn’t call any of my friends, and we still had a few days left on the river before I would be able to call anyone.

It may sound silly, but it pretty much ruined the entire rest of the trip for me. I had always thought that was where he may propose, and I have waited so patiently (still waiting!)… and this his brother proposes to his girlfriend there.  Needless to say, I no longer want my SO to propose to me on that trip, and I am very weary to go this year.

@blushblossom91:  I know how you feel. But PP are totally right! I spent a lot of time imagining how Fiance might propose, and when it happened, at first I felt it was pretty lackluster. But now that some time has passed and we are halfway through wedding planning, I look back and think just how perfect and so “him” it was. So just know that you will love your proposal, no matter what!

@blushblossom91:  I’m so sorry!! (hugs) You’ve received great advice, I just wanted to say that I empathize with how shitty that must feel! But I’m sure that you’ll have a truly wonderful proposal ๐Ÿ˜€

@blushblossom91:  ahh that would bug me too BUT it sounds like he knows how much you want a proposal at Disney (im shooting for a disneyland proposal too! hehe) just remember, there are PLENTY of places to propose at Disneyworld – its huge! So hopefully he is still planning something. Don’t give up on it just yet!
