My mom found out after she had me that her brother had a dog with my name at that time.  Oh well!  (She found out because her nephew asked “Auntie?  Why did you name your baby after my dog?”  lol!)

Two friends have dogs with the same name as Fiance. One actually kind of named it after him because she likes his name. A little weird but not a big deal. I probably wouldn’t change it. We put a lot of thought into naming our puppy and though some family members didn’t like our choice at first we just went with it although I don’t think any friends will want to name their child “Grits” so I don’t think we’ll have that problem 🙂

It’s confusing for a puppy to learn a name and then learn another name. Your friend can live with it or come up with something else. It doesn’t seem like it’s a family name or anything that she’s obligated to use.

Your friend actually followed up on this to email you a list of new names? Wow, that’s pretty crazy.

Keep the dog’s name. Know that if your friend tries to vent to any of your group about it, they will likely have the same type of overwhelming reaction that we Bees have had. It’s not rational. It’s not even remotely reasonable.

Also, enjoy your puppy and feel free to share cute dog pictures since everyone loves puppies! (We really love them when we just get to look at them and don’t have to clean up after their accidents.) 😉

Keep the name, but let her know you thought about it and considered her feelings carefully.

@NoaMarijn:  It was your name first….she took inspiration from you to name her daughter Noa, she shouldn’t ask you to change your dog’s name….and change your nickname….

    Noa? For a baby GIRL?

Can you imagine if it was the other way around? I’m sorry, girlfriend, but I was going to name my puppy Chloe so you are going to have to change your baby’s name?

    RIDICULOUS!
