    I definitely wouldn’t change it’s name. That’s a really weird request haha.

I had a somewhat similar thing happen. Where my friend was angry I had used her “boy name” when I named my dog. I had no idea that name was off limits. I didn’t change it, it would be one thing if it was my sister telling me this….but it wasn’t. She migh. be a little peeved at first but there’s always a chance she has other names picked out.

Also, it’ll probably only bother her. Chances are that when the kid is old enough to care they’ll think it’s pretty awesome they have the same name as “aunt” bee’s dog. I know I would have thought it was cool.

@NoaMarijn:  Noa is SO adorable!  My fiance just heard me squealing and knew it had something to do with cute baby animals.  Lol!

If you’d named your daughter Noa and she wanted that name would she ask you to change it? I know it’s different because it’s a dog not a baby but the principal is the same.

I would keep the name. It’s not like you copied her, and I think it’s important in obedience training that you stick with the name you’ve already been using to help your dog become familiar with it.

Besides, your friend’s baby Noa is going to have an “Auntie Noa” (ie you!), so if she doesn’t find that weird then I don’t see why she would think it’s weird that your dog is called Noa. Just tell her how cute it will be that wee baby Noa will be able to have a canine friend called Noa 🙂

When I was a kid, I had a cow named Sammy, and I have a cousin named Sammy.  (I grew up on a farm and I worked with this girl everyday)

Also, my old cats name was then ame of someone I knew.

My nephew has the same name of one of his cousins, and they are only a few months apart.

There was never any weirdness or confusion.  It happens, you can’t claim a name.

    Also…Noa is ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!

I would not change the name- and would actually be offended that she would request you did!

I mean, I know pregnant women have a lot of hormone action, but that is pure entitlement talking!

I don’t think I’d change the name either. And OMG that puppy is absolutely adorable! 🙂

No way! Don’t change the name of your puppy… How close of friends exactly are you with this girl?

Puppy aside for a second, if it were me and I was in your situation- I would be mad with HER.. Why would she use YOUR favourite name to name her child, if she knows you can’t have a baby? That’s cruel and she doesn’t sound like a very good friend to me =(

I wouldn’t change it. It’s simply a coincidence that your friend will have to get over.

One of my late aunts had a mean cat that shared the same name as me. The cat was older than me, and also once badly scratched my sister. She still to this day tells me I was named after that cat (I wasn’t, it was just a coincidence). The cat died before I was old enough to have any memory of her. I’ve never been mad at that aunt or my mom for sharing a name with a cat – because that’s something absolutely ridiculous to be upset over!

Please dear God, no, do not change the name.

I am making this request as a pregnant lady myself AND a reader of the STFU, Parents! blog. Friends do not let friends become crazy after they move to babytown.

Honestly, her request is pretty much as reasonable as you staring back at her and whining, “Wait, no–you HAVE to change the fetus’ name. Noa is the name of my new puppy!!”
