@VirginiaR:   you can get more portrait photo done at another time.  MM and I doing some photos around Philadelphia this spring/summer.  I think a wedding shot in front of the LOVE sign with friends who didnt actually make it- will be awesome

@naturalysam:  GREAT idea!

You could probably get 2 student photographers for what you might have paid your friend. It’s a great way for them to get professional experience/references.

I would look at Craigslist or a local college that has a photography department. If all else fails, I would put regular cameras on people’s tables with a note to take the pics.

Set up a website so your guests can upload their pictures for you! It would encourage them to take pictures and you will seriously get great shots!

When I took photography in highschool some of the student did some nice weddings for 200-300$ and others did it for even less. Ask for a portfolio and a meeting. Doing a session of engagement shots would also be a good idea just to get a feel for them.

There are tons of up-and-coming photographers out there looking for a chance to grow their portfolio at a really inexpensive rate. If you put a little time and effort in, I’m positive you can find someone!

That is such BS that she just randomly upped her price at the last minute.  I wish you all the best in finding someone else!

I just sent you a PM.  This is why I was nervous about hiring any “friendors”.  Sometimes they are more trouble than it is worth.  Hopefully you can find what you need.
