I posted a review and shared a pic on my photographer’s website, and for fun, thought I’d share it with the hive:)
My husband, Kevin, is gone for work offshore for 5 more weeks. Every day I email him a “photo of the day” from our wedding photos. He looks forward to it every morning, and then we laugh about whatever was happening in the picture…Because of our mind-blowing photos, we go back to our wedding day every day together, even when I am in Fort Lauderdale and he is on an oil rig off the coast of Holland. Thank you for that:)
Photos are not about perfect poses, they’re about capturing moments, big and small, and we are so fortunate to have so many captured…
Today’s photo of the day is the moment I pulled out my “Game Day” sock as my “hanky”…Wearing matching “Game Day” socks was an important tradition to my husband and his groomsmen from their days playing baseball for the US Coast Guard team…At our rehearsal dinner, after my husband gave his groomsmen their Thank You gifts, one of his groomsmen and former teammates gave him and all of the groomsmen “Game Day” socks to wear the next day for the wedding, to symbolize they were on his team. The groomsmen then bestowed upon me my very own pair of “Game Day” socks. I was touched to be part of their team now:) I was honored, and it was important for me to let them know how much this gesture meant to me. I couldn’t wear them with my ivory satin strappy shoes, so how could I incorporate it into the ceremony? My sister and I devised a plan to use a Game Day Sock as a hanky instead! We elaborately planned it out – she would stuff it in her bridesmaid dress (and it took PERFECT positioning to not make her look overstuffed or suspicious!) Minutes into the ceremony, as I started to tear up with emotion, I reached out to my sister, and she produced my Game Day sock!
This is a favorite photo for all the groomsmen that were wearing their Game Day socks (along with Kevin!) on our wedding day…They didn’t see it coming, nor did my husband as he hands me a tissue, but I’m one step ahead of him with my Game Day sock:) I love my mom laughing in the background, because she was “in on it” too and helped us plot to get that sock worked into the ceremony:) Most of the wedding guests had no idea this happened. It was a special moment just for the bridal party, and I love that we have it forever now:)
