After months and months–probably like a year– of lurking, I’m finally a bee! This past Saturday (July 25) my boyfriend of 2 years popped the question for our 2 year anniversary. We’re both super excited.
Fore more than 10 years, I’ve wanted a sapphire engagement ring. The problem was I didn’t want the classic dark blue. After hours on Pinterest pouring over sapphire engagement rings, I finally settled on a blue green (teal) sapphire being the stone of choice. I originally found the ideal stone on Brilliant Earth and pinned it to a board that only my boyfriend could see. I detailed what I liked about the stone and what I wanted. I also pinned settings I liked. I originally wanted a yellow gold ring. I had requested that I be involved in the process, but my boyfriend had other plans.
My boyfriend used a custom jeweler in Florida. The whole process was remote and took a month. He shared some of the correspondence with me and it all seemed very professional, reassuring and easy. Basically, my boyfriend just shared my pinterest page with the guy and he created a ring based on the ones he saw. Even though my ring didn’t end up being yellow gold, I’m okay with it. I actually really love it! I don’t think the pave would sparkle the way it does if it were yellow gold. I can always get yellow gold bands.
Center stone info: I wanted a cushion cut blue green sapphire that leans closer to blue and that’s exactly what I got! In the daylight it can look very bright aquamarine and bluer in dimmer light. I couldn’t love it more.
