So at lunch today with my FH, I told him about some amazing (and fairly normal) wedding photos I saw. He said, “Why would you want a picture by yourself.”
Finally understanding he was confused, I prodded, and he admitted he thought all wedding photography was the lines of families after the ceremony and he’s never seen wedding pictures.
He had never heard of pre-ceremony photography (separately or together) and was utterly confused by the notion of why he might want shots of him and the guys getting ready.
He really looked at me like I was from Mars and said “Why would you want a picture of your shoes?”
So my question is — what do I do about this– he isn’t the type to sit through hundreds of sample photos as I show him what they do in this century, but I need a way to show him how lame those old lines of family photos are compared to all the other shots that normally are taken at weddings. and also show him what those old photos look like so he can see the difference.

I’d pick maybe a dozen on your favorites and show them to him. That way your get your point across but he isnt forced to look through pages of pictures. Good luck

Leave it to your photographer. They are trained to deal with people who don’t want to have a their picture taken just they are trained to deal with photo whores lol. I wouldn’t worry about it girl! Good luck!

I don’t think you have to convince him of anything so long as he’s fine with you doing what you want (i.e. getting the pics taken) I’m a girl, I like those types of pictures, I understand why women want them, but I’m not doing them.

I would definitely select some gorgeous photography photos and show him what real weddings look like, and that will totally end the confusion. We have to give guys credit for not passing out or for just not wanting anything to do with the planning at all. His heart is in the right place, guys really can’t know everything about everything. And let’s face it, most girls have dreamed about their wedding, photos included, for a long time, and so this is really the place where you would come in and show him the light.
