@VirginiaMarie: That is still the highest price I have ever heard of someone paying to be a +1.  While completely inappropriate, I am sure several of us would love to go to your wedding, but probably none of us thought to bribe anyone. And I am sure it’s a combo meal.

Are you guys among some of your first group of friends to get married?  To me, this sounds like immaturity on the part of the “friends”, both your REAL friends who are allowing this and your FRINGE friends who are sneaking in.  To accept money in order to crash a friend’s wedding is flatly unacceptable and the height of immaturity and irresponsibility. I would be highly disappointed in my “real friends” for even considering this – and would think strongly about having them stand up for me at my wedding, frankly.

It almost seems like they’re treating this event as a college frat party, rather than a wedding.  I can only assume this is because it’s novel and they’re young and haven’t been through this wedding song and dance a dozen times yet?

I hope that you can talk to everyone as a group and let your expectations be know.  This is a solemn event that is joining of 2 families, not a beer fest kegger for the neighborhood!

@VirginiaMarie: You’re a bigger woman than I. Just because you can afford it doesn’t make it right. I would seriously be lopping heads off around me if I were you!!! LOL! I can’t believe any of this. It’s ridiculous and tacky and just ew. I want to call your best man and rip a strip off him I’m so mad right now!

@VirginiaMarie: Give them and their guests Subway combos as their dinner meals? I mean they love Subway so so much, and all you can drink fountain pop, no alcohol though, you can’t find that at Subway.

But VirginiaMarie… If all the single guys are bringing these fringe people… WHO WILL DANCE WITH DAUGHTER CRAZY? That is the real dilema for me 😉

On one hand, your wedding must be pretty f’ing awesome if people are paying others off to attend! On the other, that is really weird and annoying.

Wow, that would annoy me… your “fringe friends” sound really desperate to get drunk at a wedding.  Why don’t they just plan an actual college reunion, and leave your wedding as a nice event for close family and friends?

OMG – just saw this post…

SERIOUSLY they paid the Groomsmen to be their +1!? who does that!?!?!?

this is why NO ONE got a plus one on ours if we didnt know who it was and put them on the invite ahead of time basically if they werent dating beforehand enough for us to know what their name is – we arent even extending them the “oh we had a few nos and we have room”

the last thing i want is to have random weird people i barely know in my wedding photos and film.

seriously ask them for a cut. or at least that Subway combo….

@sceeder: LOL. “no alcohol though, you can’t find that at subway.”  love it.  That is the best wedding idea ever.  VM- please, please do this and tell us all about it.  That would make my month!
