Doing crunches will increase your ab strength, but unfortunately, crunches alone won’t help you lose weight around your stomach.  I know my abs are really strong from pilates and yoga–I could do 100 crunches, but that doesn’t mean I have a super flat stomach!  What will shrink your belly is cardio and healthy eating. I also second ThePinkSuperhero–drink a lot of water and eat enough fiber–that will help keep you from getting bloated.

@kristasuzanne – we have the same wedding date and same problem!  I’m starting to see a bit of a difference from running and weight training. 

If you can, find a gym that has a complimentary personal training session and ask the trainer for some ab workout techniques.  The best thing my trainer did for me, was give me additional ab excersises and weight training skills that I didn’t have before.

Jessie516 is right.. diet and cardio. You could have six pack abs and if there is fat over them u wont know they are there! If its just a bloated thing, where ur tummy sticks out… lots of water is good fiber too. And my trick before stepping on stage at fitness competitions is some correctol the week before.. to completely clear u out. most people hold like 5-10 pounds of waste and thats what can make ur tummy pouch out.

losing fat overall is the only way to lose tummy fat.

But good fats can help you lose more tummy fat. Avocados, almonds etc… I noticed I lost a half an inch around my tummy when I started eating almonds regularly as a snack instead of cheerios or something.

Slash the salt in your diet! I am a salt junky, but if it’s just a temporary salt outage for the wedding in order to fit into the dress, I’ve heard it helps TONS!
