so, i went in for a hair trial several weeks ago with some photos of loose, romantic semi-messy-but-still-intact side-bun looks. now to be fair, i have very thick, very long hair (which i recently chopped by a good 3 or 4 inches). i think my hair just wasn’t meant for such a delicate look, but hopefully the cut and layers will help it out on the day of. i plan to ask my stylist (who was fantastic to work with!) to tone the “messiness” down a bit and replace with more “texture” of waves/curls.
what do you all think? any advice or suggestions on how to achieve that side-bun i’m searching for???

I actually really love it.

agree. too messy. just tell the stylist to clean it up a bit. not so much texture.

Ditto @ meowkers. I think its great. I hate really done looking wedding hair though. I think you run the risk of looking like a prom queen you know? I think yours looks perfect.

I’m with @Meowkers- I also love it!

I think it looks nice but depends on what you’re going for. Do you have naturally curly hair? If so, and you have a summer wedding, the heat and humidity will cause more of the frizz that is maybe what you are thinking makes it look “messy.” Are you doing a hairpiece or veil – because that might tie it all together or cover an issue. I think this is a classic, elegant-but-simple style and maybe your stylist will have suggestions. After all, you are paying her to make things look the way you want!

I think overall it looks really good but might be a little too messy around the crown of your head.

I think it looks nice – but not particularly bridal at the moment – all it needs is some fine tuning!

wow, i didn’t think i would have responses already! thanks ladies! i accidentally submitted before finishing my post, hee hee.
@fitzly: i don’t have naturally curly hair. it’s straight, but pretty thick so it gets a bit of a natural ‘wave’ if you will. i’m thinking of sticking a flower on the side but that’s about it – i considered it half down but i think i just have too much hair…

I like it! Especially the front! If it bothers you, you could ask her to clean up the back a little bit, but I think it looks great!

I think it looks beautiful! Such a romantic feeling…

I love it! I say if it holds up all day then I wouldn’t change it. I’d only worry if it’s not very secure that small pieces might fall during the day (just carry a few extra bobbi pins to pin them back).

I love how “easy” and natural it looks!

I really like it! But if you think it needs to be cleaned up a bit ask her what she can do!
