can’t you just get married and have the “celebration” later?  🙁  I am really sorry!  That is very depressing.

I’m sorry, dear.  Any chance you can change your wedding plans so you can still get married this year?

I’m sorry 32 months seems so far way.  What about having something small and intimate?

((hugs)) I’m sorry to hear that.  Are you wanting a large wedding?  Would it be possible for you guys to have a very very small ceremony, then when you can afford it, do what you originally wanted to do?  After all, at the end of the day the wedding is one day but it’s the marriage that really matters.  I hope you can figure something out!

I agree with the others…is there any reason why you guys can’t get married now and have the ceremony later?? Or have a backyard reception as opposed to a fancy restaraunt? There are lots of ways to cut corners and still make your day special.

i’m so sorry!  that’s such a disappointment.  if you guys can get through all that sacrifice, you at least know you can handle anything together.

Could you get a job to fund the wedding? When I was doing my bachelors I still managed to work around 20 hours a week – even at minimum wage that could get you enough funds for an intimate wedding …

I guess you just have decide what matters the most, having a smaller, intimate wedding now, or waiting almost 3 years for a more elaborate affair …

Considering the kind of wedding you want, and since you guys are still in school.. I don’t see anything wrong with waiting until you get what you want.  I’m sure the wait will be worth it.

I know that it seems far away but I think it is admirable that you guys want to finish school and pay for the wedding yourself!

I am sure it will be WELL WORTH the wait!

If you want to be married, get married.  My (secret) hubby and I got married legally eight months ago.  Our WEDDING is this  May.  We were engaged, we wanted the legal rights and benefits of being married, so we did it.  Plain and simple.  Now we are saving like crazy and planning our big, religious ceremony.  I don’t mean this is a mean way, but there is a difference between being married and having a wedding.  I love my husband, I love being married – a big wedding with our friends and family is just the icing on the cake.

If getting married soon is what is really important to you, some of my friends attended a wedding they are still raving about. The couple booked a whole campsite, and invited their friends and relatives to the location. The group spent the whole weekend camping together, and had a fun outdoor ceremony, and then just hung out and drank wine and potlucked and had a great time.

Just another suggestion. Is the issue the cost of living together after marriage, or the wedding itself? If it is just the wedding, I know us Bees could give you some awesome suggestions to bounce around with your Fiance. Don’t give up just yet!

If your dream is the big wedding, though, absolutely no judging. The super casual isn’t for everyone.
