I’am not sure if its appropriate to name the store where I was treated so terribly but I want this post to reflect my fiancees heroic attempt to get me my hearts desire. He is SO darn sweet! This man just makes me melt sometimes.
Anyway I was in San Francisco on Union Street and I found this store on Yelp. I saw nothing but good things about it and decided to look there for my bridal jewelry. Upon entering a woman in her 30’s and another gentleman came out from behind the counter to help me. The store was very full of merchandise and very tightly packed. The woman told him to stay behind the counter, that she would help me because she was married twice before and would know how best to help me. Okay, I chalked it up to enthusiasm and I told her that I found them on Yelp and that they had great reviews. She showed me to the bridal display and told me to open up whatever I wanted and try on anything I liked. I declined on the grounds that I might knock something over so she helped me pull out a beautiful crystal and freshwater pearl necklace and earring set. I turned to my friend to ask what she thought and she said no, it didnt sit right but I liked it so I asked the woman to hold it for me at the counter.
The woman asked me what my dress looked like and I pulled up a photo of it on my phone. She took my phone and was looking at it when my fiancee came in and took a peek at what I picked and meanwhile 2 other women came in and wanted to look at the bridal section so I moved to the register where I asked the gentleman to show me another piece. He let me try on a necklace and I was putting on the earrings when my friend asked me what my dress looked like.
I realized I had left my phone with the saleswoman and went to retrieve it and came back to the register to show my friend and the gentleman my dress. I was just about to ask the man to ring me up for the 1st set I had picked when the woman comes running from the front and tells me I have to leave…immediately. “Take off the merchandise and just get out!”. Yeah, just like that. No explanation, nothing. Even the man was totally shocked and confused. He even tried to calm her down and stop her but she just kept going. I dont know if she was off her meds or what but my friend and I left.
I spent the entire day looking for something like it and I found nothing remotely similar and nothing in my price range worth buying. I was upset and still had no idea what was behind that episode but I only had a couple more days to shop before I had to come back home.
SO, enter my knight in shining armor. I woke up the day after and my fiancee tells me to get dressed and we are going shopping. He told me he was taking me back to Union Street to look at some other shops further back that I had not looked in. I was reluctant but I went along with it. He told me that he was going to get us some coffee and he’d be back shortly. I shopped for about half an hour in a couple stores finding nothing…needless to say I was even more disappointed and more than over it.
I was walking back to the car and saw him standing next to it with a white box that looked like it containted pastries or something and he handed me the box. I was all sulky so I said ‘no, Im not hungry’ and he said ‘just open it’ and there was the necklace I wanted! I almost spilled our coffee on him I was so happy. He is SUCH a sweetheart!…and then I got all suspicious and said ‘you spent money there? Where was our friendly neighborhood schizo’ and he told me to calm down and wait for him to explain. He said he was ‘stealthy’ lol (this is funny because he’s a big, bald, tattooed guy) and he peeked before he went in. He’s so funny he went on a recon mission for my jewelry!!! The man that was there the day before recognized him almost immediately and started to apologize profusely. He said that the woman thought that I was stealing! In any event the man asked my fiancee to express his sentiments and apologize to me…and he offered 25% off the set I wanted and threw in a small glass heart.
I genuinely appreciate the mans efforts to make amends and I know its not his fault, he tried to stop her but I will never go back to that store again because of her and its too bad because they have great stuff in there but that was just GRIMY! I hope NO bride to be EVER gets treated that way! Turns out that the store owner was sick in the hospital and his neice was standing in along with the gentleman who helped me….but yeah, my fiancee is my angel! And not to brag any further but yesterday my dress was supposed to arrive and he was so cute he posted signs on our mailbox and walkway to direct the Fed Ex guy to our cottage. I cant even begin to say how in love I’am with this man and how glad I’am that we found each other!!!
