I am a married woman bees! It was the most perfect day of my life. Everything was fantastic! I can’t wait to get pictures in to share with you!
With the good comes the bad I guess…
My husband and I were on our way to the airport this morning to catch our flight to Maui. We got stuck in traffic for an hour and a half and in turn missed our flight. Not only did Expedia cancel our whole trip, they refuse to reschedule our flight or refund ANY of our money. It is such a horrible situation. We are in the middle of a dispute with them at the moment and please pray that we can get this all figured out so we get our honeymoon after all.
Anyone have expierence with this? Any legal bees think we have any ground to stand on here?

My brother and his wife overslept for their flight. They were able to work with the airlines and get onto the next flight. That sounds absurd that if you miss your flight your whole trip is cancelled. Good luck and congrats on being married!

I am so, so sorry! I would be crushed. I’m not a legal bee, but I’m sure there must be SOMETHING that can be done. I will keep my fingers crossed for you and say a prayer. Keep us posted!

P.S. Congratulations on your wedding Saturday!

what?!? that sounds absurd to me! Why would they cancel your whole trip because you missed your flight? At worst I’d think you’d have to pay a change fee to get on the next available flight or something. What was their reasoning?

I can’t believe they wouldn’t charge you a fee to catch the next flight & then let you keep everything sles! What else did you have through them besides the flight? & for how long?
I checked out their site & it says to look at your itenerary. How frustrating, I’m sorry :(.

Have you called? I’ve had this done to me, too. They canceled my flight by accident, though. Said I was never on the plane, even though I had the boarding pass in my hand.
Call them and demand to speak to a manager or someone in charge. Good luck 🙂

What?? They canceled it because of something you couldn’t control??
I really hope you can get this sorted out! It really doesn’t make sense that they would completely cancel the whole thing…

@Miss Seersucker: I’m so sorry! That’s awful!! It seems there has got to be a way to fix this if you can get a reasonable person on the phone, please keep us posted. I’ll be interested to hear how it all works out, good luck, keep your head up girl! Either way, congrats on the wedding!

Omg that is horrible. Me and Fiance missed a flight to vegas last year. We bought a vacation package through west jet vacations but, luckily they got us on the next flight to vegas. It was a 10 hours wait but, i’m just glad we still got to go. I would try talking to someone higher up with expedia and tell them your going to get trouble shooters involved.

@Miss Seersucker: Oh my goodness. I am so sorry. I sure hope they are able to work with you on this.
By any chance are the different legs of your flight with different airlines? I was once trying to rebook a flight (the new flight cost less than the rebooking fee). The lady told me if I didn’t show up for my original flight, then the whole flight, including the return would be cancelled.

Did you purchase trip insurance? If so, it may have covered part of your loss.
there are some rules that cover things like flat tires on the way to the airport, etc. It doesn’t sound like Expedia did a lot to assist you.
I know that I am probably biased, but this is a great example of how using a travel consultant can make or break your trip. We’ve had clients in similar situations, (overslept, stuck in a blizzard), and were able to get the rebooked on later flights with no out of pocket expenses to our clients.
If you do have insurance, and want some assistance with understanding the rules about it, shoot me a p.m.
Sorry to hear that your honeymoon was ruined. You really should have been able to get on a later flight.

That’S frustrating. I know that missing the first leg cancels the entire flight but I never heard of hotel being canceled because of it. Also, what was the cancellation policy on your hotel and airfare? I imaginethe hotel may have ahd more flexibility and not charged you for more than the first night. Read the small print, you may be able to rebook the flight against a change fee. Good luck.
I second @Bliss in buying trip insurance through an agent for large trips. Althoug I just booked a summer vacation without it, we made sure to insure our honeymoon against everything!

I’m hoping that you’ve not checked in because you got it worked out and are currently laying on a beach somewhere!

That is crazy and doesn’t make sense to me. I hope it all works out for you! Good luck.
