This is what I want: I want a romantic room overlooking the ocean. A beach scene. Either a balcony that we can walk out onto, or a patio. Nice hot weather, romantic places to eat – restaurants that have places to sit overlooking the water so we can watch the sun set while we eat. We’d like to be gone 10 days. We would also like to do snorkelling and hang gliding.
Where could I go for this and how much would it cost? I was thinking Hawaii… How much would a trip like that cost there?
This would be for November/early December of next year.

Hawaii, Mexico, Caribbean, South Pacific (Tahiti, Fiji, etc). Where are you coming from? Let’s say you’re coming from the West Coast, I would think a nice trip to Hawaii for 10 days would be around $5K.

Not sure on prices or where to go but watch groupons because they always have great deals for vacations.

I hear the maldives are wonderful. Price is going to depend on a lot of things. High/low season, popularity, holidays, where your flying from etc

@Stressed_Bride15: what’s your price point? and where are you currently located?

We got back from our Honeymoon in the Maldives two weeks ago. IT IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACE ON EARTH! Definitely pricey but so worth it! We were treated like celebrities – we stayed at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island.

@Stressed_Bride15: I’m thinking a lot of the Sandals resorts have what you’re looking for. I wonder if Hawaii has one.
Our last trip to Mexico (Excellence Cancun) fits your criterial as well. We stayed for 10 days and the flights/resort cost us about $7,000 (we got a package thru Air Canada Vacations). We also spent some money on souvenirs and generously tipping all the staff at the resort.
Bora Bora is also an amazing place to honeymoon w. the over the water bungalows but you’re look at like $20K+ for 10 days there.

I would say our price point would be no more than $10k for the entire trip. Of course, less is better. We live in central Canada.

One thing about Hawaii – it may depend on the island, but we stayed at Kauai. We had a great trip, but we got one of our snorkeling trips cut down to just swimming, because of the first “winter” waves – this was in September. They said when winter starts, they have to stop most snorkeling and some other activities because the winter surf gets too rough. (Apparently, it’s great for surfing, though.)
If you pick Hawaii, I would just make sure you can still do the activities you want to in November/December. Like I said, I don’t know if it differs by island – it may just have been Kauai.

Costa Rica. The water is best for snorkling/diving in Dec and they have tons of adventuous activities. I am headed there on Sat for Christmas with DH and my family.

I agree that Costa Rica would be great (or if you want something a little more off the beaten path but still beautiful / tropical, Nicaragua! I’m going there in a week!)
