Ugh that’s horrible!  Can you get an outside person to do an appraisal or is that not okay?

I doubt they would do it.  As long as it will close in a reasonable time frame, they would be better with waiting for you than putting it back on the market and possibly getting a lot less on the sale.

I’m sure the sellers will be okay with a push back of an extra week so don’t lose too much sleep over it. I know it’s nerve racking, but just think – you’re almost homeowners!! Congrats!!!

@serabell – as of right now you are under contract. There are no more bids being accepted on the house, so as of right now the only way they can look at any other bids is to not accept your extension and put the house back on the market.  I think there is a ridiculously small possibility that this would happen, so I wouldn’t worry. And just so you know – the appraisal was done on my house in about 3 days from start to finish. They did it on Monday morning and I got it Wed afternoon, pretty crazy it was done that quickly. So I wouldn’t worry too much about it

At least you are on track for the credit since you already have your contract in place.  Sounds sort of insane!
