I  would choose the black dress because it’s more subtle. The red dress is gorgeous, but it may draw too much attention to you. You want this to be about him!

I think I would choose another dress. I know you said you would cover up that crazy cleavage but I don’t think that will work well with this dress. You can’t just pull the eges together when it’s cut halfway down to your waist and wearing something underneath would not look dressy.

This day is supposed to be about him. I would find another dress.

I personally don’t like the dress for a pinning ceremony (I do like the dress itself, though).  Even if you altered the chest, it is still too sexy for a function like that (it looks more like an evening/date night dress to me).  Functions like this should err on the more conservative side when it comes to attire.

I would agree that perhaps something a little more subtle would be appropriate, but if you had a cute cover up, the black would be nice! And congrats for your husband! My Fiance is a 2Lt at TBS right now. Oorah!

Congratulations! My Fiance is a former marine (enlisted though), you guys must be so excited πŸ™‚

I love the dress and I know said you would wear a jacket and try to cover up the low-cut neckline, but I still think that it is a little too sexy for the occasion πŸ™ Check out lulus.com and alloy.com, they have so many beautiful options that might be a little more appropriate!

@julies1949:  I agree.  I think the dress is very pretty for a different event, but it’s way too attention grabbing (in either color) for a day that’s about your husband.  I would find something more conservative.

I hate to say it, but that dress is WAY too low cut for a commissioning and/or pinning.  Seriously- other women will look at you and talk behind your back.  I know you say you don’t care, but remember to some extent you do reflect on your husband, especially at official events.

Think sundress, rather than cocktail–at least thats what I saw at ours πŸ™‚
