So I saw acrylic invites on TheKnot.com and fell in love! Then I soon found out that they are waaaay expensive, total bummer 🙁 But I kept with it and kept searching and finally found a small business that makes acrylic cake toppers…who just so happened to recently start making invitations! Her website is pretty basic and she didn’t have much to choose from so I was a bit nervous (no reviews either). I emailed her with my thoughts (I liked one of her templates but wanted to modify it a bit) and she was extremely accomodating. She drew up a custom template and sent me the draft (to which I changed the font like 3 times lol), which I then had made into a sample. IT IS PERFECT!! (The best part is they’re going to cost me half the cost of every other company I found!)
Well here they are!!! (picture quality is not that good and it’s kind of big, sorry)

wow, that’s so neat, I’ve never seen it before!
How do you mail them, though? Is it rigid acrylic?

@StL.Ashley: I was planning on just putting them in foil lined invitation envelopes. I just have to figure out what size to use. You can have the post office “hand sort” them instead of the machine so they won’t get broken or anyting.
They are thin, but durable. They don’t fold or anything. Does that answer the “rigid” question? Lol

I am impressed you already have your invitations for a wedding that is over a year away! My wedding is in just under 3 months and we do not even have our invitations yet (they are ordered).

@elysion: They are about the thickness of 3 credit cards placed together, if that makes any sense? Lol, I was trying to find something to relate it to instead of just a measurement.
The words are laser cut into the back of the acrylic…so they won’t rub off or anything 🙂

@amandasf: Hahaha, I’ve been a little OCD about the planning. This is only a sample, so I won’t order the whole lot until it gets closer. But I did have my venue picked out within like 3 weeks of being engaged and I already ordered my dress. People think I’m crazy 😉
