I wasnt intending to post this until i received all my dresses and could complete the diary, but i decided to post what i have now, and update it as i go along.
I choose to order my dress with jasmines bridal shop shortly after becomming engaged, Jasmines enabled me to create my own custom, one of a kind piece at an incredibly affordable price. They had a great reputation on the bee and an almost cult like following i was curious about.
Here were my inspiration pix for my original order (1 gown, 1 bm dress and a veil):
i had asked for sequin tulle on the skirt of my gown, and the bm dresses in pink though.
I officially placed my first order and paid with Kimmie on July 3rd. My dress, and my bm dress didnt go into production until August, and the veil in early October. I received midproduction photos of the bm dress sept 12 and my dress sept 20.
My only real revision was cutting off the train of the bm dress ($30), the rest of the things i mentioned at midproduction were simply missed during the initial dress construction.
On October 10 I received photos of my veil… It was absolutely stunning… But had the wrong monogram!
To say this was handled poorly by the production team would be an understatement. I was blamed for the wrong letters because they decided to discard my drawn photo in lieu of my original inspiration pic, and just used the letters off there because they claimed I didnt specifically say that they were letters and needed it to say “AWJ”. I was to go through hundreds of emails and trello conversations to find where I had specifically stated i wanted the letters to say “awj” in order to not be charged for the revisions (Because apparently my hand drawn pattern was not sufficient evidence that I had asked for the veil to say awj). I was devestated and livid… I wasnt expecting the veil to be perfect, but I at least expected them to get the right monogram! It was the basis of the veil! I couldnt wear a veil with someone elses monogram! So after hours of yelling at random objects, and lots of cuddles from my foster pup, my mom found my original quote request, and i did in fact ask for it to say AWJ… Phew! The team then proceeded with production.
Oct 21 i received another set of photos of the veil. I couldnt be more happy. The monogram was right (!!!!!) and personally i think the embroidery looks even better than the original! I was a little concerned that it looked quite short, but i didnt want to make a big deal about it, so i quickly approved for it to go into beading.
On october 22 i placed my second order for the rest of my bm dresses (3), a reception dress and my flower girls dress. At this point jbs had discontinued midproduction photo service, and i didnt feel the need to upgrade any of these dresses to designer anything. So i had to wait & pray that they didnt forget anything or randomly discard any of the pictures!
here were my inspiration pox for this order: (bm dresses are the same)
Oct 30 i received final photos of the first bridesmaid dress…. But they had still forgotten the 4 straps in the back… So annoying! So i restated that the dress needed them, and i had asked for them in the quote, and at mid production. I also made a point to stress the importance of all 6 straps for the 3 bridesmaids dresses that i wouldnt be receiving photos for….
to be continued…
