After much anticipation, my Jasmine’s Bridal replica of Maggie Sottero’s embrace has arrived! I will go through the pros and cons of my experience below:
Pros: There are MANY. First, their customer service through the WHOLE process was absolutely amazing! They responded to comments and concerns timely, and they seemed really willing and happy to address any and all concerns I had. They also sent me updates the whole way through, which really put my mind at ease.
When my dress finally arrived, the fabric, the craftsmanship, everything was really exquisite. I am no expert, but I honestly could not tell the difference between this and the real dress (and I tried the real dress on!) It came fully lined, evenly stiched, the satin was so beautiful, full boning, even a strap for the built-in bra structure. The straps on the corset are so full and beautiful. It was fantastic handiwork.
I had to take it to a tailor to get it altered (see cons below), and the tailor had absolutely no idea it was a Chinese replica, she assumed it was made by the designer herself! When I told her, she even said that they were very innovative with the bustle, something she had never seen before but she thought made WAY more sense than how it is normally done by designers. She thought it was a beautiful dress, as do I!
Cons: Really the only con I have is that it doesn’t fit properly, the bust is too big, and the hips are too tight, which makes it fit sort of funny (I’ve posted pictures below), it makes me look blockier than I should. But no matter what i had done, if I had bought the original, that would have been the case. I am slightly disappointed because I was hoping it would come fitting perfectly, but that was wishful thinking. I have NO regrets about this decision, since my tailor said all my problems can be easily fixed, and I still saved about 1500 dollars (assuming similar adjustments would be necessary on an original dress).
(Also, forgive the messiness of my room…)
