Honestly, I was looking in the background for her because I assumed that was you in the picture.  It’s not the end of the world (and I’m sure there will plenty of posters along in a moment to chastise you and tell you that), but wow, I’d be ticked too.

I understand being irked, but the day has passed and surely there are more important and positive, wonderful things to focus on. Did anyone confuse her for the bride? Did she really steal the thunder? Didn’t you have a wonderful day? Did it really take anything super important away from your day of celebration with your husband?

At the end of the day, does it really matter that she wore white? Is that really what’s important? Not really 🙂 The day certainly wasn’t about what she was wearing in the end to anyone else!

Um…usually I respond to these with saying something like, “Well I’m sure it was obvious who the bride was!” but then…who is in the picture????  That person looks like a bride!!!  But that’s not you???

I think that’s a bit ridiculous.  But it’s okay.  You’re married!!

Not only is that white, but it could pass for a bridal-ish dress. I’d be upset too, but in the end, let it go. She probably wasn’t thinking about it and just happened to find a dress she liked.

I know a lot of people will chime in saying that she can wear what she wants to wear but I’m with you. I’m of the opinion that there are a million other colors to choose from and she should have selected one of those. Just from the side view, it does kind of look like it could pass for a more mod wedding dress so I get why you’re pissed.

Unfortunately, there’s nothing that you can do about it now but you can enjoy the fact that she was probably a topic of conversation throughout your wedding and afterwards from people who felt that she looked ridiculous for wearing white.

Despite the gawd-awful floral pattern on the dress (I am trying hard to ignore this), I can understand why you’d be upset. It looks off-white with kind of a hint of cream/yellow in the picture though. Did she tell you what she was wearing or did she surprise you?

I guess there is nothing you can do about it now unfortunately (and there probably wouldn’t have been anything you could have done then), but hopefully you didn’t let this overshadow your day. I am sure you outshined this lady by a million! I’d let it go 🙂

Hope you had a wonderful day!! Congrats!

@sportsgal31:  I also thought that was you dancing…then I was like..”wait a second…”

Wearing white is one thing, but that dress could seriously pass as a wedding dress. WTF.

I normally don’t think the “wearing white” rule is a big deal..but in this case, I would have lost my mind.

I’m sure a lot of your guests probably had a laugh at your MIL’s expense. She looks gorgeous, but that is SO silly to look like the bride on your sons big day..

Eh, it has a print.

I agree with PPs…focus on all the wonderful things that happened that day instead!

@sportsgal31:  omg me too! I totally thought that was her as well, and was looking for the Mother-In-Law in the background! WOW!

unfortunately there’s not much you can do about it now. I think  the best thing now is to try to forget about it. bringing it up would cause drama. I like the fact that you’re venting here 😀 best part of being on the bee!

Just be satisfied by knowing that everyone there was probably gaping and whispering behind her back about her lack of class.

Also, she’s here to vent people. Just let her do it!

Yeah that’s not really a good choice.  Obviously you know it’s not worth worrying over but I’m still a little irked about party of my hair sticking out my wedding day, so I understand!

… She has some lady balls! Wow! That was totally inappropriate. I agree it does no good to say anything now, but holy moley, that’s an awesome way to start off on the wrong foot with her daughter-in-law.

@Bunnygirl:  I thought it was you in the picture dancing too :S. That’s very wrong of her but you can’t change it now so don’t dwell too much.
