- Wedding: September 2011
I’m getting married 9.2.11 and wanted to share some of the details with you. We’re on a somewhat tight budget (>$10K) and when I was looking for ideas I had a hard time finding inexpensive ideas so hopefully this will be helpful to other brides in my position!
Wedding Date – Friday September 2, 2011
Guests – About 150 invited
Colors – Bright Royal Blue & Sunflower Yellow
Ceremony and Reception Location – Western Lakes Golf Club in Pewaukee, WI (http://www.westernlakes.com) They have great specials for Friday weddings (no minimum, free appetizers, free wine/champaign toast, free late night food) which is going to end up saving us a ton of money!
Catering – Saz’s through Western Lakes. They allow you to have up to 4 entrees plus a children’s menu with no additional charges. I’m kind of a foodie and was very pleased with our tasting!
Flowers – Urban Sense in Wauwatosa (http://www.urban-sense.com/). Very reasonable pricing and judging by the things I’ve seen from them they do a great job!
Photography – Sondra Ralston (http://www.sondraralstonphotography.blogspot.com/). Again we got a great deal on photos and are only paying $100 per hour!
Reverend – Roger Hyttinen (http://www.milwaukeeclergy.com)
Cake – The Cheesecake Store, Menomonee Falls, WI (http://www.thecheesecakestoreandmore.com). VERY reasonable pricing and absolutely delicious cakes. We also looked at Simmas but ended up with The Cheesecake Store because it was far more reasonable and better quality in my opinion.
Invites – For Now and Forever Wedding Invitations (http://www.ForNowandForeverInvites.com). Jennifer was AMAZING! I went to her house and gave her an idea of our budget and what I was looking for and she immediately pulled out 3-4 ideas that she thought would work. All of her choices were great but one of them was EXACTLY what I was looking for. Once I decided on the invitation she spent about an hour with me working out the wording. It was very helpful to have someone to go through wording options with me because I was clueless.
My Dress – purchased at Amelishan in Hubertus, WI. I’m not a tiny girl (size 10-12 in normal clothes, and an embarassingly large size in wedding dresses) and I was unimpressed by the service that I got at a lot of places (David’s only wanted to let me try on what they had in my size for example). Amelishan was a totally different experience. For one, their sample sizes tended to be a little bit bigger so the dresses looked better on me, and second they treated me like a princess.
Bridesmaid Dress – Bill Levkoff 681 in Horizon (http://www.billlevkoff.com/style/bridesmaid-dress/681). We found the dress at Savvy Bride in Brookfield for $208 but will be ordering it through Pearl’s Bridal (http://www.pearlsplace.com/) because they have it for $122! A friend of mine used Pearl’s for her wedding and the dresses were perfect so I’m excited that I was able to save my ladies some money!
I’m DIYing the following items: bridesmaid jewelry, guestbook, card box, ring bearer pouches, programs, table numbers & placecards and will post pictures when they are done!
Anyone else getting married in Milwaukee in 2011?
