I FINALLY have a chance to post this!
I wanted to update everyone on my experience with moissanite co and my ring! I had an absolutely INCREDIBLE experience with this company and I actually cannot wait to order my band from there as well just so I have an excuse to communicate with them again! I know one of the big concerns is that some bees have said they experienced a difference in customer service before they purchased the ring vs. after they received the ring. This was not the case for me and I think it’s important to let other people considering this company know that!
I had a lot of annoying questions that Mike answered via email almost within the hour every time I emailed. I was given specific responses down to the mm measurement. When I was asking if a 1 carat stone would overwhelm the side details on a small finger, he offered to ship a wax mold of the setting for free. It arrived in a cute little gift box sitting on a square of fluff. It was so helpful to see the mold on my finger (even if it was bright blue and didn’t have any sparkle haha). Honestly, in some ways, it was amazing to be somewhat underwhelmed by the mold becaue the ring in all its sparkly glory absolutely blew my mind when I saw it.
I don’t know how long things took to be exact because my Fiance didn’t involve me in the shipping process but I do know that we didn’t pay extra for shipping and it arrived in under two weeks from order to delivery. He didn’t propose when it arrived so I don’t know the exact date. He did peek at the ring at that point and told me that it was “more beautiful than he could have ever imagined”. I was beyond excited.
When he did propose, I literally was shaking when I saw the ring. I have never seen a ring sparkle more in the sunlight (we were on top of a mountain on a bright sunny day so this helps haha!) and the setting was so delicate, intricate, and beautiful. All of the tiny ittle bead set stones were gorgeous. The stone was set perfectly balanced and all the prongs were straight. The metal was beautifully polished. It really and truly blew my mind that I could have a ring that stunning that we didn’t have to take out a second mortgage for.
We went with the forever brilliant enhancement and I am really glad we did. The stone is brilliantly white in the sunlight and on overcast days. I do see a little bit of warmth in the stone when I’m standing in front of my green bathroom curtains but the walls are yellow in addition to the curtains hahaha so I’m not surprised. I would HIGHLY reccommend the enhancement even at the 1carat mark. I’m not sure just HOW MUCH warmer it would be without it, but I know that I love it the way that it is. I don’t consider myself to be a very color sensitive person but I can see how it changes based on our surroundings.
Those bees worried that the double refraction or whatever it is called is “too much”, there is only one setting that I found my ring to be MUCH more sparkling with fire than my best friend’s diamond and that was in a particular restaurant with high ceiling can lights that I think might be LED lights. However, it’s not something anyone else probably even noticed at all.
My other piece of advice besides the enhancement is sizing. I had read on here that some bees experienced their rings being too big despite being sized at mltiple locations. This happened to me and the ring is about 1/4 to 1/2 size big. BUT, I think the reason is more that my band is thin in the back and sits on the very LOWEST point of my finger which also hppens to be the smallest. THe fleshy part of my finger is true to size but the ring doesn’t sit up that high. It’s actually a common thing that friends of mine have talked to me about when you have a thin band. Just be aware of this. For now, I’m just using a ring snuggie because I want to see how much my finger swells in summer to know just how much to have it sized down.
That being said, I emailed Mike asking what my options were and he replied within a day with a very long message outlining ALL of my options. He included the shipping address and how to send the ring back. He also explained sizing beads which I could have placed by a local jeweler. He also said a really nice little blurb about how they would of course check the size of the ring to be 100% sure (if it was incorrect the wouldn’t charge us) but that he had written a blurb for quality control that “if the ring was not as perfect as humanly possible, to bring it to him”. THIS is exactly why I am glad I went with the company but also why I am so glad I emailed him with my questions ahead of time and built somewhat of a relationship with him. When you think about it, your regular brick and mortar jeweler becomes somewhat a part of your story when you buy your ring and I don’t think online shopping has to be different. I’m not saying email your life story, but I felt like I wasn’t just a number on an invoice with this company and it made all the difference in my confidence with online ordering an ENGAGEMENT RING haha.
Will attach photos tomorrow!
