While I generally like large stones, I can understand your concern. I think the stone overpowers your beautiful setting a bit. Can you wear the ring for a week or two, and still have the option to exchange the stone if you feel it’s too big?
Also, I don’t think you were bragging about your hands at all, it was relevant to your question. Your hands are lovely, you could be a hand model! 😊

I think it looks perfect on you but I’m biased. I have a 2ct on a size five.

nivyx : I think your ring is gorgeous! And I think you’ll get used to it as time goes by. What I would give for fingers like yours! If you love it, that’s all that matters though that’s easier said than done with friends and family making comments. Like PP said if you look at it and smile then that’s all you can ask for

honestly the stone is gorgeous. but it looks like it overpowers the setting you chose for it. however this is just what i see in photo, and everything looks bigger in pictures than in real life. if it makes you happy rock it!

I wear a 4.5 (but size up to 4.75). l’ve worn a 2 carat equivalent round, then a 1.5 carat equivalent emerald cut, then an 8×6 ACC and each were large looking on my puny fingers. And I DID get looks at the grocery store and elsewhere because, a big, beautiful stone does garner surreptitious second looks. I’ve gone down to a 7mm round now.
It’s all about what you feel comfortable with and what works for you. Is it big? Yup. Is that a bad thing? Nope. Does it look gorgeous? Oh hell yes! Your ring is really pretty. I love the setting, it looks like a flower. What are you thinking band-wise? (Sorry if already mentioned, I didn’t read the whole thread).

nivyx : Girl! Loving this ring on you too much! I went to an 8mm on a size 6 finger from a 7mm moissanite and although I felt it was too big at the start I totally love it now! Like shrinkage is REALS!! Give yourself two weeks and then you will know I am right!

ginger74 : Thank you. I’ve looked into bands but couldn’t find any that’d work with the design of the ring. I like bands that sit flush to the ring but with the leaves on the side, it prevents the band from sitting flat against the ring. I’m still looking for ideas to have a band custom made to fit with the ring.
avafox : Thank you! Shrinkage is starting to kick in after one week. It doesn’t feel as big as I first put it on. I’m giving it a couple more weeks.

If you like it, that’s all that matters! I think a 1.5 would show off the setting better. But it’s a very pretty gem!

I have a 2ct equivalent moissanite with size 5.5 fingers (that are short!) and I was a litt self conscious at first but I’m used to it now. Your does look big, but if you like bigger rings, I wouldn’t worry about it too much. You could totally size down to 7.5 mm if that makes you more comfortable too.

I’m generally not a fan of very large stones but I have to say that in your setting, the size is absolutely beautiful. I wouldn’t change it!

Just own it! If people look and feel free to say what it is. But it looks awesome!

nivyx : I think “shrinkage” is overhyped. I was initially looking at a 6.5mm cushion moissanite. It felt too big and I ended up going with a 6mm cushion. Ive been wearing it for 4 months and so far still think the size is perfect.
For my personal taste – that ring is too big. But Im not into big flashy rings and some people are so if thats what you like that it may be fine. To each their own.

I love it!!! I think there will always be some who say it’s too big, too small, not their “style.” It only matters what you think! I have a 2.2 carat center diamond on size 4.75 finger and I’d glady go bigger someday if we can afford it
