He is just a snob.  And wants to sell diamonds.  Don’t worry about it.  😉  Plenty of fabulous jewelers will set moissy without any attitude.  Your moissy is beautiful!!  Don’t let anyone make you feel differently.

Would you consider letting the store owner/manager know about your experience?  If the SA did this to you they may be doing it to others and causing the store to lost clients.  Unfortunately the owners can’t fix what they don’t know is broken.  So let them know.

What a jerk! I would write a review or two about how condescendkng he was. I have a loose moissy too that will be going into my custom setting, and thankfully my jeweler is wonderful about it. I almost went to Shane Co, too!

So awful.  My fiance purchased my ring from Shane Co, and when we initially went to search for a setting I told the SA that I was considering a moissy.  Well, you would have thought that I said “we are considering setting this place on fire.”  I think they teach all of their SA to emphasize a “real” gemstone like a sapphire or diamond because that is what they sale.  Try not to take offense because I had a really high end jeweler set a moissy for me without batting a lash.

That makes me so nervous because my intention is to buy a moisannite and take it to Shane Co to set it! However I heard online that it will cost $300 to be set. Is that true? Do you think it’s just that one guy acting like a jerk? By the way, your stone is absolutely gorgeous!! Is that an OEC cut?

I would have asked for a manager and gave him the business about how associates should treat customers that aren’t being rude and did not ask for those kinds of comments. Then I would have left a review a few choice places about that store and its associates.

If you like it, that’s what matters! I can’t see it on my phone but I’m sure it’s gorgeous.

I’m so sorry that the person was so rude!!! Your stone is absolutely beautiful! I have a moissy too and after reading so many experiences like they never went to a chain. Instead my sweet jeweler down the street is my go to. I agree with others, I would have said something to the management.

MissSweetiepie:  yeah your first mistake was taking it into a chain store. They are trained to act like that.

Go to a small family jeweler with an on-site goldsmith. They usually won’t pass judgment and they might actually be curious, mine was when he saw my moissanite righthand ring and said he was impressed because he’d never seen one in person and thought they’d totally be green. He said that he wouldn’t be able to tell the difference until he looked at it within arm’s reach, and he could only tell because he had a trained eye. He told me he would set earrings for me if I ever bought more stones.

I feel like they do that to try and shame us into buying a Diamond.

If I wanted a Diamond I would have bought a Diamond ass face.

They did the same thing to me at Ben bridge. I found a setting I liked and said that I would order my moissy to have it set and the woman looked at me like I had three heads. Then she said oh no.. You can but the setting and have it set elsewhere we won’t set it for you.

So they lost out on a sale.
