VENT. My mom is seriously trying to take over my wedding planning and it’s driving me crazy. Since she and my dad are paying for everything, I find it completely ok that she can invite pretty much anyone she wants. That’s a given.
However, forcing me into getting bridal portraits done that I REALLY don’t want to do is not cool. Not to mention they are $500 and a complete waste of money in my opinion. She contacted the photographer behind my back to add the bridal portraits and the only way I found out was when my photographer emailed me an updated invoice.
THEN I get an email from HER hairdresser asking me how I want to do my hair so she can set up a consultation with me. Umm, what? Since when did I express interest in your hairdresser?
To top it off my Grandma sends me an email saying she is going to bring me some fascinator ideas to my house on Friday since I decided I’m not wearing a veil. WTF, I never said that! I know it must have been my mom that told her that. I’ve already had one serious convo with my mom about not overstepping her boundaries but I don’t know if she gets it.
She has also shown pictures my dress to almost everyone in our family when I told her I wanted it to be a secret. I know she is super excited, but she needs to cool it. I just don’t know what to do. Sigh.

Did you forget that you live in the south and this is your southern mama’s affair?
I’m just being silly, but a friend’s father told her point blank that her wedding was her parents’ wedding to plan, just as every birthday party had been theirs to plan.
Needless to say, her mother is still hanging on to the apron strings that my friend has tried to cut.
I think you need to throw them a few bones and let them take care of a few things, but guard a few for you and your FH to have as your own.

@mink: Haha, you’re right. I need to lighten up but I’m such a control freak and I think bridal portraits are so vain! Ugh! Thanks for the giggle though.

LOL!! I totally read this in Monty’s voice from SYTTD Atlanta.
@kwill2012: I know it’s frustrating but hang in there!! I think mink gave you some great advice about guarding a few things for yourselves. Just try and remember how excited your mom is and that not everyone has that support, that’s how I keep my sanity…
