First of all, I’m NOT pregnant.
- During my wedding reception in July, my mom asked if we were going to have “another announcement” by Thanksgiving.
- My mom let it slip about a month ago that she’s already made a quilt for my baby.
- The last couple times I’ve talked to her on the phone, first thing she asks me is “are you pregnant yet?”
I haven’t even told her we’re really trying. I keep saying things like “we’re not really trying yet” and “it will happen if and when it happens”.
I’m glad she’s excited, but I really could do without the pressuring. If we do get pregnant, I would like to make the announcement on MY AND MY HUSBAND’s timeline. What if we have trouble TTC? I don’t want to be reminded every week about it.

Lol mothers are silly. Sorry, I don’t have any advice, but my stepmom is the same way, and now that we are pregnant, we’re not telling her and my dad until I’m ready for it to be shared on FB, because she’d tell everyone she knew within minutes. And she already has 10 grandchildren!

I saw another poster who did this to their mother everytime she mentioned or asked about being pregnant, that evey time a baby or asked if being pregnant was brought up. They would be pushing trying to get pregnant out 6 more months. I would maybe say hey mom if you mention or ask if I am pregnant we will push out trying to get pregant out 6 more months and anytime you mention it, it will be pushed out 6 more months. I know that poster said her mom stopped asking.

Irritating. My Future Mother-In-Law and FGMIL are the same way.
Them: “When are you going to have red headed babies?”
Me: “Never. My mom is blonde, my dad has balck hair, Fiance is blonde, Future Mother-In-Law is blonde, Future Father-In-Law has black hair, so the chances of red heads are slim to none.” – I thought it was witty…
But sometimes I am thankful for their excitement. My mom told me awhile back that I shouldn’t expect much for my kid whenever I have one because “it wont be the first grandchild”. My step sister has two kids now. Sorry I didn’t get pregnant as a teenager like she did, I had other stuff going on. *sigh*
