Black and navy blue don’t clash.. And I’m curious as to why is this such a big no no?

My mother wore a black dress. I didn’t even think twice.

carrjc66:  My mother wore black. Looked amazing. My colors were Black and White. But we also had blue through out the wedding. I don’t think it will clash. Little Black Dresses are Classic for a reason. Praise be to Coco for the invention.

carrjc66:  let your mother dress herself, presumably she’s been doing it successfully much longer than you have.

Why is your colour scheme more important than your mothers comfort and happiness?

Olgarie:  lol yes all hail Coco! Love the LBD invention:-)

OP, let her wear black if that is what she feels best in!

I don’t see the big deal at all. Black is classic. She can’t go wrong with a LBD.

carrjc66:  I’ve worn black to several weddings, and not thought twice about it. And as such, I wouldn’t care if my mom wore black either.  It won’t be that big of a deal, and I guarantee that letting your mom dress herself so that she feels comfortable and beautiful will be more important than your pictures possibly “clashing.”

carrjc66:  I don’t think it’s a big deal for her to wear black.  People aren’t going to be really focusing on her.

carrjc66:  we all wore different colors and hues. Im not picky; Comfort comes first. My Mom wore a dark navy blue dress, my husband wore a navy suit with a orange/yellow shirt, my bridesmaids wore different hues of light blue, and groomsmen had to incorporate some kind of blue to their attire. My Mother-In-Law wore a pretty flowery dress, and our dads wore a tan suit. It turned out nicely.

my mom wore Navy and my BMs were in black.  I think it worked really well.

I say let her wear black! You want her to feel comfortable at your wedding and not be self-conscious.

I don’t understand the “no black at weddings” thing. I get not wearing white but I think the “rules” about what colors to wear should stop there.
