- Wedding: September 2013
My save the dates went out with our Christmas cards. We made 60 save the dates and it cost about $2.20/each with postage to make myself (along with quite a few Sunday nights while I watched my tv shows). So the final product looks like this:
I wanted something practical for people to put on their fridges and I needed to send out the save the dates so early beccause we live and are having our wedding in a tourist town and the “season” doesn’t end until Colombus day so I wanted guests to start considering accomodations. I purchased all the paper from Michaels and cut everything to size with my paper trimmer. I bought the calenders from Taylored Expressions (http://www.tayloredexpressions.com/item.php?item_id=4144&category_id=158) and marked the wedding date with an itty bitty heart stamp purchased on Etsy(http://www.etsy.com/listing/103707900/tiny-heart-rubber-stamp-mini-wood). I found spools of the rope in a clearance bin at Walmart. Everything was put together with double sided permanent tape with the exception of the knots, which were super glued to keep their shapes and then superglued on to the paper with my low temp glue gun. The magnet backing I found at Oriental Trading (http://www.orientaltrading.com/awesome-adhesive-magnetic-sheets-a2-57_9500-12-1.fltr?sp=true&Ne=3&Ntt=magnet).
I’ve been really happy with the responses I have received from my guests. I laughed when a couple people sent me texts with a photo of it on their fridge – glad they’re being put to use! Our wedding colors are navy and white with fuschia being our pop color and we want a nautical theme. I would love to know what my fellow Weddingbees think of my save the dates??
