The dress drama. Ladies! Choosing a wedding dress is so.much.harder.than.I.ever.imagined.
I am incredibly indecisive, and to document my dress experience in a nutshell: I bought a dress. Canceled the order. Searched high and low for custom dress makers. Panicked about not being able to “see” the dress beforehand. Went to a non-profit sample dress shop yesterday and decided. And thats that.
So… here it is.
I’ll definitely not be wearing granny underwear on the day of my wedding, don’t worry. 😉 And I have a feeling that Spanx will be my friend in this situtation, but I do feel that the dress is so flattering in the *ahem* rear. 😉
Don’t mind my weird stance/face in this picture. We snapped pics before we decided on the dress for sure, and we weren’t allowed. I was nervous!
The dress isn’t exactly what I set out to buy, but it does fit some of the criteria: soft, flowy, and fitted. I love love love tulle, but wanted something that shows off my figure. The best part about this dress is that the shop is a non-profit, works on donations only, and donates all of its proceeds to NYC school children in an underserved area of the city (I’m a NYC public school teacher so this is right up my alley!).
My husband and I are already married, so it definitely fits the feel I was going for: something not over the top, but still lovely and bride-ish.
Also, it kind of resembles (in a subtle way) the dress I wore to our first (city hall) wedding, which is a nice nod to the start of our marriage.
I did have some panicky dress dreams last night after I brough the dress home (my main concerns is that it’s kind of evening gownish) but I think that’s to be expected with such a big purchase. I will not let dress regret take over (this time!!) and will be happy with my pretty, pretty (feel-good!) purchase and be done with it! Tell me I’m right, girls! 🙂
